Story of Akshaya Tritiya:

Lord Krishna and Sudama were great childhood friends. Sudama was poor and so he went to Krishna and asked him for some financial help. Sudama didn’t have anything except the pouch of Poha and he felt ashamed when he gave it to Krishna. Lord Krishna treated him well and Sudama went home empty-handed. When Sudama arrived home, he saw his hut was converted into palace and his family was wearing royal attire. Sudama got to know that this was the blessing of Lord Krishna who gave him more than required. Hence, Akshaya Tritiya is associated with material gains.
