1) Mumbai International Film Festival i.e. MIFF was established in 1990 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
2) Every year, MIFF is conducted in the month of October inviting young and renowned film-makers, professionals all over the world to discuss and promote their work on Indian cinema.
3) MIFF programme is divided in 9 categories –
International Competition for the First Feature Films of Directors,
World Cinema,
Indian Frame,
Dimensions Mumbai,
Retrospectives,
Above the Cut ,
New Faces in Indian Cinema
The Real Reel.
4) MIFF is conducted in National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Mumbai.
5) MIFF is one of the prestigious festival and focuses on documentary, short and animation films of India.
6) The film festival is at par with International Film Festivals like Leipzig, Berlin, Oberhausen, Cracow and Tampere etc.

8) Every year more than 40 countries participate in MIFF to meet, interact and exchange their innovative ideas on the kind of films made all over the world.
9) Till date, MIFF has conducted 12 editions of the festival successfully out of which 3 were held in Nariman Point, Mumbai.
10) In 2012, the award money for MIFF was Rs. 63.50 lakhs with golden / silver conches and Rs. 5 lakhs for Dr. V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award.
