Sugar is one of the most addicting things many people become dependent on without realizing it. Although we have all grown up loving sugar, there are many reasons to give up it today. The major reason is definitely your health. Sugar is the key factor to almost all health issues these days. It can suppress your immune system, upset your body’s mineral balance, speed the aging process, causing grey hair and wrinkles, cause kidney damage, contribute to diabetes and osteoporosis, and many more.Â
Sugar was always meant to be a treat, a reward. But added sugar is infiltrating the food supply, and we’re not just talking soda here. Food manufacturers pump excess sugar into an array of foods—even “health foods”—creating catastrophic health results. Below is the list of a few crucial reasons to give up sugar for good.
1.Sugar makes your skin look older
Sugar can make a person age faster. The thing is, sugar can disrupt the hormones as well as encourage free radicals that are responsible for aging, illness, and destruction of the DNA. Give up sugar today to look a bit younger tomorrow.
2. Highly addictive
Another crucial reason to give up sugar as soon as possible is because it’s very addictive. It was proven that sugar is 8 times more addictive than cocaine, which means the more you consume it, the more you want it. It sounds a bit terrifying.
3. It can cause weight gain
Not only does sugar promote tooth decay and provide quick highs and lows, it also offers nothing but plenty of empty calories. If you are on a diet and you are trying to drop several unwanted pounds, you need to consume only natural sugar. Though, it doesn’t mean you should eat a lot of sugar if you are trying to gain weight. Sugar is not good for you no matter what your fitness goal is.
4. Mood swings
Sugar can also cause mood swings. When you consume sugar, your blood sugar spikes and then drops quickly once you have burned it. It impacts your metabolism, your mood and your overall health. If you experience frequent mood swings during the day, try to eliminate sugar from your diet and see what happens.
5. Sugar makes you hungrier
The more sugar you consume, the hungrier you feel. Have you ever noticed that you feel hungry after eating your breakfast? That’s because you eat a lot of sugar in the morning. You may crave sweet, sugary foods, and everything that has sugar in it and that are packed with empty calories you don’t need.
6. It suppresses your immune system
Eating sugar suppresses your immune system and makes your body more susceptible to some diseases, including cold and flu. Numerous studies show that a body with a lower pH is the best environment for cancer to grow in. So if you are trying to boost your immune system and prevent cancer, you should start with quitting sugar first.
7. It can make you feel foggy
We are all running around with a great amount of things to do each day. Feeling foggy is certainly the last thing we need, but did you know that consuming sugar can actually cause the brain fog? I think this is a sound reason to give up sugar today.
8. It doesn’t contain any vitamins or minerals
Sugar is simply empty calories. It doesn’t contain any vitamins and minerals. Most high-sugar foods such pastries, candy bars and sodas contain very little nutrients. If you consume them regularly, you might become deficient in some important nutrients.
9. It tricks your brain.
Eating too much added sugar allows the fructose found in sugar and high-fructose corn syrup to send your hunger hormones into a tailspin. The hormonal messages that tell your brain you’re full aren’t properly triggered, tricking your system into thinking you haven’t eaten.
10. It “browns” your tissues.
In a way, we “rust” as we age. Oxidative stress turns our tissues “brown;” this is known as the Maillard reaction. Chronically overindulging in excess added sugar will speed up this browning process.Â
Most of us know that too many sweets can cause weight gain and numerous health issues, so why not give up sugar for good to feel better and healthier? Opt for natural sugar and eliminate processed sugar from your diet. The results will greatly astonish you! Are you going to give up sugar?
