Eid al-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ʻĪd al-Fiṭr, IPA: [ʕiːd al fitˤr], “festival of breaking of the fast”), also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, the Sugar Feast, Bayram (Bajram), the Sweet Festival and the Lesser Eid, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). This year, it is going to be celebrated on 28th July 2014 (or a day between 28th to 1st August)
1) Eid ul-Fitr is a festival celebrated after the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, and celebrated by Muslims around the world.
In Arabic, it is called عيد الفطر
It is also known as Eid, “Ramadan Eid” or “Smaller Eid”
The Muslims enjoy by having Family meals (especially lunches and late breakfasts), eating sweet foods, wearing new clothes & giving gifts to children.
There are Congregational prayers at the Mosques and muslims give charity (Zakat al-fitr)!
