1.Vijay Diwas (Victory Day) marks India’s military victory over Pakistan in 1971 during the Indo-Pakistani War 1971.It is  commemorated every year 16 December in India.
2.The end of the war resulted in the unilateral surrender of Pakistani army . It was on this day at the end of a 13-day War fought on both the Eastern and Western fronts, ‎Pakistan’s Lt Gen A.A.K Niazi with 93,000 Pakistani soldiers & their civilian supporters  surrendered before Lt. Gen. Jagjit Singh Aurora, commander-in-chief Eastern Command in Dhaka.
3.16 December 2014, is the 45th anniversary of the 1971 India–Pakistan war, the first war after World War-II that the Indian Army won conclusively. The only war that the independent Indian Army planned, executed and carried out with precision and captured 93,000 prisoners.
4. December 16 is a day of celebration & remembrance of the sacrifices of India’s brave soldiers.Citizens, senior officials, students & war veterans lay wreaths on December 16 every year.
5.The anniversary of Vijay Diwas is observed across India by paying tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
