When choosing make-up, it’s important to use make-up products that compliment your skin tone and hair. If you have pale skin, freckles, and brown eyes, you’d probably want a bright turquoise eye shadow, light foundation, light pink lip gloss, and red blush. Remember, embrace, don’t erase!
Here are certain tips for you:-
1. Be familiar with your natural features:
Before heading off to the mall or cosmetics store, get familiar with your natural features. When shopping for make-up, it’s good to know what you want ahead of time. Ask yourself, “What would look good with my skin tone?” “What color eyeshadow would bring out my eyes?” “Lip stick, lip gloss, or lip balm? If so, what shade?” etc. If you’re not sure what shades and colors would look best on you, ask a skilled beauty worker at the store. Sometimes they even give you free make-overs to decide what you like the best!
2. Make sure your eye shadow complements your eyes:
The most important thing about wearing eye shadow is making sure the color of the shadow compliments your eyes. If you have green eyes, blue, gold, tan, yellow, or white looks best. If you have blue eyes, green, gold, silver, or magenta looks best. If you have brown eyes, blue, pink, red, or green looks best. If you have hazel eyes, most of the options will work for you. Don’t wear purple eyeshadow because it will look like you’ve got a black eye!
3. Make sure your foundation matches
Foundation is the base of make-up. If you use good foundation, you will look simply stunning! But if you use bad foundation… Try to buy foundation that matches your skin tone. It’s good to use a little lighter shade of foundation then your actual skin tone. Do not EVER put on too dark of foundation! You’ll look like you got a bad tan.
4. Don’t overdo the color
Lips need stick! Lips need gloss! Lips need balm! But which do you wear? Lip stick is mainly for adults and fancy outings, but you can wear it 24/7 if you wish. Lip gloss is the best; from school to the mall, from soccer practice to a slumber party, lip gloss is the best. Lip balm is more casual, and it’s for just hanging out or relaxing. Your skin tone does effect your color of lip product, though. So make sure you know your skin tone and what complements it.
5. Highlight your cheeks
Blush is for bringing out your smile. You do not have to wear it, though, but it makes you ‘glow.’ Apply on the apples of your cheeks. Again, for every skin tone there are colors that complement it and colors that make you look like a clown. Colors aren’t just a “one size fits all” and there aren’t really and traditional colors. And don’t go with red unless you are ready to join the circus and become a clown! And when you find the perfect color, don’t over do it. blush is supposed to enhance your skin naturally, so I recommend using light strokes.
