2) A.P. J. Abdul Kalam:
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam referred to as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam who served as the 11th President of India is an Indian scientist and administrator. He was born in a very poor Tamil Muslim family. He had to work as a newspaper vendor at an early age to meet his needs. He performed averagely in his academics during his school life but was described as one of the brightest students. He used to love mathematics subject and graduated in physics. India’s 1998 nuclear weapons established him as a national hero.
3) Dhirubhai Ambani :
An Indian business tycoon who founded Reliance Industries has been ranked as one of the top 50 businessmen in Asia. He began his journey by selling oil in retail on the roadside. Then he began setting up bhajia stalls at village fairs during his weekends when his school was closed. At the age of 16, he worked as a gas station attendant and then as a clerk in oil company. He opened his first textile mill in Ahmednagar and by 2007, the combined fortune of the family was $60 billion.
4) Rajnikanth :
A famous Indian film actor and a cultural icon was born to a police constable in Bangalore. He was 9 years old when his mother died and he struggled doing odd jobs as a coolie, bus conductor etc. Later he participated in stage plays and emerged as a Tamil megastar from 1970s till present. He also worked as producer, screenwriter and the second highest paid actor in Asia.

A famous American media proprietor, actress, producer, talk show host, Oprah Winfrey was born in a poor family to an unmarried teenage mother who worked as a housemaid. Till the age of 6, she was raised by her grandmother. She had faced molestation from her uncle and cousin when she was not even 10. At 14, she became pregnant but her son died soon after birth. At the age of 19, she began her career as co-anchor of local evening news and later launched her own production company. She is currently the richest African-American of 20th century.
