1) April 15th is celebrated as Titanic Remembrance Day in the memory of 1500 people who died on the same day in April 1912, when the Titanic sank into the icy waters of North Atlantic Ocean.
2) Titanic, known as the “unsinkable ship” Â and “safest ship afloat” by her builder and designer, hit an iceberg at 11.40 pm on 14th April, 1912 on her maiden voyage from England to New York City.
3) Later, on 15th April 1912, the Titanic sank alongwith those passengers still aboard who were unable to escape due to insufficient lifeboats on-board the ship in the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
4) The day is also celebrated by watching Titanic : starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
5) Â Titanic had a sister ship, the Olympic which was constructed around the same time, with Olympic being launched on 1910 and retired in 1935.
