1. It was published on 1st of January 1986.
2. Its Method
- Index
- It uses Free Float Capitalisation Method
- This method means it uses floats i.e. company’s outstanding shares that are available or usable for trading.
- The output of the method is for a particular base period.
4. The Free Float excludes Shares held by company promoters, governments, trusts etc.
5. So,
Free Float Market Value/The total value of the company=Total Shares X Market Price
And
SENSEX VALUE =CURRENT FREE FLOAT MARKET VALUE OF CONSTITUENT STOCKS/INDEX DIVISOR
