1.       How does it feel to be a topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?

Ans.i) Of course the feeling is really awesome as you feel that you are best out of rest students studying in your college. Competition outside is really big but atleast being a topper in your college gives that much confidence to face the rest others outside… the only thing here is, we should not be over confident but be confident and give your best and the best thing will come to you..

ii)Credit goes to many people.. first of all my school friend Sangeeta (as I stay at Virar which is very far from my college, during all exams I wait at her place for studies and she and her whole family make me feel as I’m a part of them and really motivate me in my studies). 2nd my college friends Mukesh and Hemant who always forced me to study in free time. We 3 always studied together whenever we got time. Rest all were equally important as they always appreciated me in every small achievements that I got and that really motivated me to work harder.

iii) Success mantra was very simple and I always follow it.. I feel we should always work hard and keep trying to always be one step ahead than others.. and if you really do it from your heart then no one else can beat you.. focus on your goals and not on your achievements. Be humble when others appreciate but not be over confident.

2.       Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy? Exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?

Ans. My timetable was based on my college lecture hours, classes and my job hours… I always carried an extra text book which I felt of reading that day.. My main motive was to finish at least 1 chapter from any subject every day and whenever I got time I referred the textbook.. It does not mean I used to byheart everything.. Just reading the chapter and understanding the concept mattered as it remains in your brain forever… and that made my studies easier… Practical subjects like FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND SPECIAL STUDIES IN FINANCE needs a lot of practice… One of the subjects was fixed to be practice every day which made it easy for me to appear in exams..So both practical and theoretical subjects were practiced every day. And 1 week before exams start revising everything that has been already done… finish 1 whole subject in 1 day with small breaks in between for refreshment … no listening music and watching t.v. funny thing but really works.. keep eating snacks like crack jack or 50-50 and chocolates like mango bite or halls while studying. It really keeps mind fresh and we do not feel sleepy.. I still remember I used to eat 5 to 6 packets and almost 20 chocolates a day. And at the end of the day the subject was over with a big smile on my face…

3.       Do you think BMS students require coaching classes or are self study enough? Had you joined any coaching classes for any particular subject?

Ans. As per my thinking theory subjects do not require any classes , we can do it on our own.. there are some students who do self study for both theory and practical subjects but they might be having someone who helps them in their studies and so they feel classes are not required. But for the ones who do not have any one like me, should compulsory join classes for practical subjects or else kt is fixed.. I joined Study Centre classes which is in Bandra.E (near M.I.G club) for practical subjects F.M and SSF and Prof.Mandeep taught both the subjects. It is also very important for the class to be that good with a very good and devoted professor because it impacts on your studies. There were top 5 rankers of one single college named Alkesh Dinesh Modi College, Kalina. From my college 1st 3rd 4th and 10th. There were toppers from Uttar Bhartiya College and even Dahanukar College. So not only the classes matters but also the best coaching classes matters.

4.       What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?

Ans. My specialization subject was SSF. I opt for it because I am a commerce background student and good in accounts so it was a scoring subject for me (I scored 73). For the students with non commerce background should go for marketing unless they feel that now in 3 years their accounts have become that strong that they can score well in practical subject than in theory subject.

5.       Can you list the text books you referred for all subjects?

Ans. I referred RISHAB PUBLICATIONS for all theory subjects as the language was very easy to understand. For practical subjects I had my classes text book which included both suns and theory.. The sums were of last board papers so that we get an idea what type of questions are asked in board exams.

6.       Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?

Ans. Its really funny to answer this question.. I really had done good practice for my FM paper.. after looking at the question paper I was very very happy.. I solved everything with a big smile on my face as I felt that I would score 50+. This was only because of my classes Prof. Mandeep. It was my best paper. After coming out of the exam hall and listening to the news n all.. I realized that the method which I used was wrong or the answer was incorrect. Something or the other. And from 50+ it came to 24(just pass) it became my worst paper. But I topped in FM with 72 marks and my success mantra worked here (work hard and best thing will come to you)..

7.       Today we often come across students committing suicide out of failure. Depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special technique for stress management?

Ans. Its really very bad and shocking to hear that students end their life because not doing well in studies.. just not thinking of their parents and their life without them, is the biggest mistake students do. I had got a ATKT in my 1st year (1ST SEM)statistics subject because I was a non maths student in HSC. I was depressed and tensed. But after sharing it with my parents, they really supported me a lot and motivated me to work more hard in that subject. I cleared my ATKT and also passed in MATHEMATICS subject (2nd sem). The only way to overcome stress is to believe in your self that “I CAN DO IT AND I WILL DO IT”. DON’T RUN AWAY FROM PROBLEMS , FACE THEM.

8.       The black book project contributing a significant part to the %,please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you?

Ans. Frankly speaking , I did not had any idea of how to make a black book project. Was really confused and afraid because I had heard that failing in black book project is equal to a ATKT IN 5TH SEM. My project guide Prof. Amie really helped me in every single thing that could make my project more attractive. Every time when I went to her with my project content, she kept on telling me to add more and more quality content and I was like… fed up. I do not have a computer at my home. Again thanking my friend sangeeta because I stayed at her place to type my project and get the necessary information from net. My friends Nivita and Mukesh helped me in finalizing the project. Day and night whenever I needed them, they were there to help me out. But on day of my vivas , I was the most happiest student because the professor who had came from other college to take vivas was very happy with my project and the content.. Not forgetting Mr. Anil Trimbakkar (Corporator of Ward 89) helped me a lot in this project as my topic was ”GIVING BMC SCHOOLS A NEW FACELOOK”. I scored 82 in my project and I’m sure that I my project will benefit me in my future career.

9.       Did you pursue any additional course/internship alongside BMS? What are your future plans?

Ans. No I did not pursue any additional course nor I did any internship as I was already doing a part time job and I’m still doing it. Future plans- after BMS i’ll be doing M.Com along with full time job and will be doing MBA in HR or Finance.. you might feel weird hearing M.Com after BMS and why not MBA.. being from a middle class family, I need to support my parents. So I thought of taking 2 years work experience with m.Com degree and then going for part time MBA which will again benefit me in my job as it is better than having experience in a job with MBA degree rather being a fresher with MBA degree.

10.   Any tips and advices for your juniors?

Ans. For my juniors, it’s a advice start working hard on studies from the 1st year itself as it affects later in T.y results as now credit points and GPA matters for future studies. The more the credit points and higher the GPA the more chances of getting selected in a best college for further studies. Secondly don’t think that it is very easy for you to get a job after BMS. The world outside is very competitive and to be the best you need to work more on your communication skills and extracurricular activities which makes you stand best out of others.
