Interview with Manal Mehboob Petkar, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14, K.B College of Arts and Commerce for Women who scored 72% and GPA Score –6.67.
How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?
It feels great and wonderful to top in my first university exam. I would give credit firstly to my parents, family and teachers for their support. I personally believe studying all the time will not affect your result but full concentration even for few hours could make drastic changes.
Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?
Yes, I did a month before Exam. I just feel study the way you feel you’re comfortable with, surely you will see good result.
Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
For practical you can join coaching class if you want but theory you’re self-studying is more important.
What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?
I opted Marketing as I am very much keen in that field and love to explore.
Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?
Rishabhs and Vipuls.
Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?
F.M was overall little bad as I didn’t got time to complete my paper as it was lengthy. SSM and Marketing were the best papers for me.
Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
I feel failure is always a step towards success. One should learn from their mistake and try to overcome it. I usually don’t get stressed out because of exams.
The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.
That was the best part of Sem-5. I started preparing for project from August end and really enjoyed it doing research finding solution to case studies, etc.
Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS? What are your future plans?
With T.Y, I gave my MBA entrance and also cleared it. Now preparing for CET and hopefully MBA after T.Y.
Any tips and advises for your juniors?
I’ll just say Give your best shot always and nothing will be impossible for you. It’s just you and your hard work that can make the final change in your result.
