CMAT February 2014 exams started on 20th february and ended by 24th February 2014. The difficulty level was the same throughout the 5 day test window.
1) English Language Comprehension:
Difficulty level – same for all 5 days.
- Error correction questions and fill in the blanks – based on topics of Articles, Propositions, Collective nouns, subject verb agreement.
- Questions on phrases and idioms which required expansion and explanation.
- Questions on vocabulary were on usage of synonyms and antonyms, fill in the blanks with correct words, spotting the wrong use of words and phrases.
- Passages were short and had 200-300 words followed by 3 questions each.
- Some RC passages questions were based on statement-assumption, statement-conclusion and reasoning style formation.
What wasn’t there in this section? – Questions on Jumbled sentences, tricky concepts of grammar
Quant and DI
Difficulty level – Moderate and time-consuming
- Topics on arithmetic had higher number of questions – Percentage, ratios, Time and distance.
- Questions on Mensuration and Algebra were also present.
- Few sessions had questions on Geometry.
- Questions on Permutation and combination, number system were more.
Logical reasoning
Difficulty level – More than expected
- More questions were on the topics like Blood relations, arrangements, statements assumptions, analogy, and statement conclusions.
- 3-4 questions were more difficult in every session and time consuming.
- If students have attempted atleast 20 questions with accuracy, then your score won’t be affected.
General Awareness
- Questions on Current national and international affairs.
- Questions on General biology, physics, chemistry, business, economics, constitution.
- Conventional GK and books and authors were also present in this section.
- 20+ questions with accuracy means you can aim for a good B-school.
