Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) came into power on 16th May 2014, Narendra Modi being the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi announced the new cabinet ministry on 26th May 2014. As many as 23 Cabinet Ministers and 22 Ministers of State took oath as part of the Narendra Modi government. After restructuring different ministries and departments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to discontinue four Standing Committees of the Cabinet and also reconstitute some crucial Cabinet Committees, including those on Security, Political Affairs, Economic Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs as well as the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
