- Costa Rica :
Live life in the slow lane for a while. Costa Rica is the perfect spot to press pause and get in tune with nature without breaking the bank. Its national parks are a highlight, boasting waterfalls, natural springs and rainforest wildlife for next-to-nothing entry fees.
- India :
Cheap food and travel, as well as a well-trodden backpacker route, make India a cheap and eye-opening travel location. Travelling on a budget here means reverting to some seriously back-to-basics living, but the payoff of incredible food and a country rich with culture, history and stunning architecture is well worth it.
- Nepal :
In Nepal, you’ll have a wonderful experience if you’re looking for classic Asian culture and tropical nature. Trekking in the undeveloped countryside, you will be able to enjoy the country’s organic and beautiful Asian heritage. Head to Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley, and don’t miss the sacred Hindu and Buddhist temples, like famous Pashupatinath, Budhanilkantha, and Manakamana. For many backpackers, even one month is not enough to soak in the peaceful aura.
- Indonesia :
Indonesia enables you to enjoy mysterious rainforests, silver beaches and crystal-clear green seas without swiping your credit card too frequently. You can even enjoy an elephant trek at Tangkahan village which will be a lot of fun! If you prefer the sea activities, Sumba Island is a good option. It is only 400km away from Bali, but you will be just as satisfied with snorkeling, surfing, fishing and doing Yoga at the beautiful beaches. There’s incredible wildlife, such as the Komodo dragon and the slow loris. And the megacity of Jakarta is eye-opening. It’s all available on a budget.
- Peru :
Peru is really an amazing place to visit. When choosing where to backpack inexpensively consider this place as your destination. Rainforests, ruins, and beaches are plentiful. Lima the capital is a good place to start your trip if you don’t have a game plan. The cool part about Peru also is that you don’t really need a plan. Just have a map, a little Spanish under your belt, and a good pair of hiking shoes. You’re all set for a once in a lifetime adventure.
- Sri Lanka :
Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lana, is the most popular city to visit here. Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte is actually the capital of the country and worth a visit to as well. The Buddha statues and Galle Face Green Promenade in Colombo are awesome. You will feel as though you have traveled to another time and place when you come to Sri Lanka. The people are very friendly and willing to meet your needs. Stunning surfing, heart-melting elephant orphanages, a serene Buddhist culture and thick jungle make Sri Lanka a hotspot for budget travel.

A mere dollar will buy you a slap-up Thai meal, while train and bus travel and basic accommodation come in at rock-bottom prices.
- Nicaragua :
When it comes to Central America, you tend to hear about the beaches and jungles in Costa Rica, volcanoes in Guatemala and diving in Honduras and Belize. What most don’t realize is that Nicaragua has all those things and more, and in some cases, better quality. There are world class beaches and islands just waiting to be main-stream. The Big and Small Corn islands are beautiful, as is Lake Managua. And when it comes down to it, the country is probably half the price of neighboring Costa Rica.
- Greece :
One of the oldest and most established cultures in the world, Greece is a tourists haven. Many of the cities like Athens lure tourists in with their ancient ruins, charm, incredible food, and entertainment.
