Every Girl Needs A Boy Best Friend

People say a boy and a girl can never be ‘just friends’. But fortunately my equation with my best friend did not go according to the people fact #201. My best friend is my repository soul, my soul mate, the best person I could ever find on earth. We would probably fight on utter nuisance issues but would break the person into pieces if they dare to say anything against us.

I remember, like any other day in the five years of our friendship, we had a fight again. We both knew it would end with “I’m sorry”  “I’m sorry too” but for now it was just “the mistake is yours”  “the mistake is always yours”.

Just to freshen up my minds I called up my boyfriend and asked him if he was free for a meet. He said yes though he sounded disinterested. Our relationship was a real unique one. We had known each other five years and then a four year relationship with en number of arguments, fights, and misunderstandings and most importantly love but sadly these days it had all suddenly started to fade and things had started to worsen.

I was already in a bad mood for a breakup and unfortunately he chose this time for it. I was stabbed by all his words. The simple yet so painful words – I don’t love you anymore. It hit my heart from the centre to the crust. There were continuous roars of confused noises in my head. I tried to overhaul the situation. I stood still, unknowingly, unknown of where I went wrong, unknown of what the reasons were, unknown of my mistakes.

I stood there silent, thinking this is what I got for all my love, loyalty and sincerity. Being a girl who could make any guy dance on her tunes, I still chose to be a good lover and expected the same in return. Was this what I deserved for not being malice like the girls who changed guys with their heels and like the girls who only wanted their money? Sadly, I was forced to believe that they were, at the end, happier than me.

The high chandelier of pride and happiness I carried in the sky above my head broke into a million pieces and lay on the ground waiting for me to pick them up and move on.

I stood there holding repentance, remembering memories, sliding flashbacks, as he left without a single goodbye gesture and I silently watched his retreating figure.

As I turned back for the way to my house, my cell phone beeped with a message. Eyes filled with tears I couldn’t read the name. I wiped them off as I opened the text that read as –“I’m sorry. I promise to never leave to alone. I promise to always be there for you and with you, standing like a wall and protecting you from every person who tries to hurt you.” It was my best friend.

All the tears that I initially tried stopping came out of my eyes like they have been waiting for years to be let free. All my sorrows were forgotten, anger had vanished and all the hurt had been washed away. All that I had was my smile. That smile reminded me of the soul that could move the world only to make me smile.

In life, we are betrayed by the ones we love the most and we end up getting love from the ones we least expect. At the end, it is friendship that stays, when nothing remains.
