Independence and Unity Day of Slovenia is celebrated on 26th December 2014. Independence and Unity Day is a national holiday of Slovenia. The day commemorates the official proclamation of the Slovenian independence referendum which took place on 26 December 1990. Between 1991 and 2005, the day was simply celebrated as Independence Day. The day is not to be confused with Slovenia’s Statehood day which takes place on 25 June every year.
