Tell us about yourself, your background, why did you join BMS and what do you plan to do after BMS?
Ans: I was always inclined towards the commerce stream and wanted to experience a more hands on approach while pursuing BMS. My future plans include starting something of my own and getting an MBA.
How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in Semester exams?
Feels great. Being rewarded for work put in is an elating feeling. It is also a reminder to maintain quality of work and effort to sustain these results.
Whom will you credit your success to?
My parents.
Did you start preparing from the first day of your FY / SY?
Contrary to popular belief I didn’t. I started prepping a week before exams really started. A day for every subject.
How did you study for Sem I / Sem III?
Sem I is generally the toughest part of the BMS program and hence requires undivided focus and attention. I had to sharpen my time management (I have a job too!) And allot equal units of time to work and college. Law was my subject of focus as it isn’t something that comes by easy. Accounts and Maths tend to be easy due to a strong foundation formed in junior college.
Which are the easy subjects in Sem I / Sem III?
Maths and accounts
Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?
I try to be precise and crisp with my answers, bullets and paragraphs vary according to subjects.
How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
Read, read and re read. Case studies are 100% application and well informed mind can help decode these case theories easily.
Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
No I didn’t unless absolutely necessary.
Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
Time really is a relative variable. Targets in terms of modules and chapters can help achieve more since quantifying your target in a given span of time is easier.
How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?
I tend to relax after every hour of study, mostly in conversation with my parents, it helps me reduce stress levels and recover for another hour of study!
If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
A tailored practical approach and a system that leans lesser on memory capacities is what I would engineer.
Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
I’d like to reiterate Mr. Bachchans message to this nation – “In life knowledge is the only equalizer”.
Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition? What is your message to the upcoming BMS students?
