College Name – Hinduja

Course Name – BMS

Rank in FY / SY : Rank 1 in Sem3

GPA / Percentage:82.71 % in Sem 5

Tell us about yourself?

I joined BMS because I aspire to become an Entrepreneur. BMS would give me an overall exposure to all fields and teach me about Management. And frankly also because it is the best and most lively self-finance course.

How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?

It feels amazing. It was unexpected for me but it was always my dream to be a topper at least once, which never happened earlier.I still cannot forget the moment of happiness when my co-ordinator called me up to congratulate me and I couldn’t believe it and I was dancing.

Whom will you credit your success to?

I would like to give all the credit to my parents especially my dad, he always believed in me and that gave me the motivation to work hard.

Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?

Not at all. I started one month prior to the Board exams.

How did you study for Sem V?

I used to study theory subjects early in the morning when I can concentrate and I did FM and Finance alternatively in the afternoon or evening. I used to study almost 8 hours in a day, that’s how I could do the portion twice before the board exams started.Service Sector Management is vast and needs to be given special attention. Ethics is easy and can be left to be done in the end. And the practical subjects need to be practiced well. Logistics and Human Resource Management is also not very difficult if the concepts are clearly understood. I personally am not very good with the theory subjects as I cannot memorise things. So don’t leave any subjects to be done one day before the exam.

Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?

Ethics and Logistics

Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?

I write the answers in bullet points. Also I don’t believe in writing huge answers. I answer to the point and make sure I finish my paper, because that’s most important.

How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?

The case studies need to be read properly twice and all the important points should be underlined while reading, that makes it easier. For the practical subjects there are certain type of questions for case studies, they need to be done properly.

Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?

I am very lazy to draw diagrams. I just drew diagrams in Logistics, and I guess it does help you fetch good marks. I scored 92 in Logistics.

Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?

I did 6 hours of theory in a day and 2 hours of practical subjects. I was finishing one subject in approximately 5-6 days. Logistics and Ethics took 2-3 days.

How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?

It was very difficult as there was Diwali before the exams. But I made sure I made up for the time I wasted and planned it well before. I love watching TV,that’s how I took my breaks.

If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?

I would like to change the Grade system. Especially the grade system of Mumbai University, you lose out on O/A grade just because of one subject. Certain subjects are difficult to score.

Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?

It is not necessary to be from a good college or English medium. You just have to keep up your confidence and believe in yourself. Hard work can pay-off.

Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?

I have learnt that believing in your one own self is most important. I never thought that I could be a topper but when I actually made up my mind, that is when success opened up the doors for me. Competition should be taken in a healthy way and even if you don’t succeed every time, don’t lose your confidence. I would like to tell all the upcoming BMS students that don’t study under pressure, just stay calm and work hard and always believe in yourself that you can do it.

Your feedback for BMS.co.in?

BMS.co.in is doing a wonderful job. It keeps all the BMS students updated and also the notes, question banks are very helpful. I myself read all the articles and interviews on the site.
