Update: TYBMS Revised Syllabus 2016 is out
Mumbai University has never failed to surprise its stakeholders.
TYBMS students, professors, head of departments, principals, parents, coaching classes, publishers, authors and the whole lot are anxiously awaiting the revised syllabus to flow in week after week since February 2016. After months of speculation, the moment of truth is staring in everyone’s face. In just 4 days, on 6th June, colleges will reopen but all stakeholders including TYBMS students are clueless what they have to do on the D day.
From what we gather, the revised syllabus was submitted by the old BMS board of studies which stood dissolved for reasons unknown to us. The new BOS is looking to shake things up and revamp everything that they feel is wrong with the professional courses offered by the varsity. This is more in line with standardisation of course curriculum and evaluation of students across colleges. The new move suggests that FYBMS and SYBMS papers will be set by the mumbai university instead of individual colleges. There’s also efforts made to standardise the assessment of internals.
Many believe the new move will take away the competitive edge from the course and make it more theoretical and rote learning oriented. There’s another lot that believes that standardisation and recent changes are good for the self financing course.
With all that’s going on, whether good or bad, there’s too much uncertainty on how course co-ordinators will make use of the day 1 in college for TY batch. Some BMS co-ordinators are thinking of starting with the basics of subjects like Logistics, FM, HR, SSM etc where they know the change won’t impact much.
We have also heard that the syllabus is passed and it will be uploaded on Mumbai University website anytime between now and 6th June.
