Let’s dig in:
- Tell us about yourself, your background, why did you join BMS and what do you plan to do after BMS?
My name is Jay Damania, a student of K.E.S College. Wishing to do MBA in Finance, I opted for BMS. Also I had the support of the best Sir “ Vipin Saboo” from Vipin Saboo Tutorials (VST).
- How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in Semester exams?
It feels great and is the dream of every student to score good marks. Being a topper is the best feeling as you get the best out of what efforts you have put in.
- Whom will you credit your success to?
None other than Vipin Saboo Sir for being available 24×7. He is available throughout the day and is just a call or message away for any queries.
- Which coaching classes had you joined? How has it helped you in the exams preparation?
As mentioned earlier, I joined VST Tutorials. The best anyone can ask for. The attention paid to each and every student and the type of teaching is super.
- Did you start preparing from the first day of your TYBMS?
No, I almost started studying 2 and a half months before exams and was able to grasp it quickly.
- How did you study for Sem VI? (Share some tips / advice for each subject)
All the subjects are easy as compared to Sem V. Numericals in IF are to be taken care of to score. A lot of practice for OR and IAPM is must to get hands on. In rest of the theory subjects , all the concepts are utmost important. Also Vipin Sir let us know the main questions so we don’t miss any.
- Which are the easy subjects in Sem VI?
Easy subjects may be Operations Research and Investment Analysis And Portfolio Management and also Retail Management.
- Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?
Bullet points is the perfect way to answer all the questions of any subject. If at all there aren’t any bullet points, try to make one.
- How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
There are always some type of questions as identifying the problem and solution based questions. Creativity in answering these questions is must as to coming up with new ideas.
- Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
Yes a small diagram as in a web diagram of the main points helps to understand the answer properly. It is also a unique way of answering.
- Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
Yes , I adopted a proper timetable as to study everyday for 3 hours with giving each and every subject equal importance.
- How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?
Doing a particular thing which relieves your mind is best. I used to listen to music or take a short nap.
- If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
Too early to state anything but one thing I would like to change is declaring openly in newspapers the notices and events.
- Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
The University is the same for all and does not have any special schemes for the students of big colleges. Also the students from non English medium can get their basic clear as no high vocabulary is used in a any subject.
- Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition? What is your message to the upcoming BMS students?
This struggle taught me that there is no scope for pure luck. There has to be a lot of endeavor put in by oneself. Making friends that help you, study with you is the best. Do not fall for any importances given at any point. There is nothing like importance for me as importance is a summary of a textbook.
- Any interesting experience / memory / favourite moments of being a student of VST which you would like to share with the audience?
It was always fun. Never was it boring to go there or a hectic session. A schedule was followed on a day to day basis. And there was no one to hate going there.
