Do:

1) Refer to the audience and the occasion

2) Say what the audience will gain from the presentation

3) Ask an abstract question

4) Give a narrative illustration of the topic

5) Preview and lead into the main idea

6) Introduce yourself and your qualifications

7) Use relevant humor

Don’t:

1) Be aloof or remote from the audience

2) Use gimmicks such as gross, irrelevant humor

3) Apologize
