Prof. Vikram Trivedi

Teacher is a tour-guide that shows and guides us the right routes towards the right sites of our livelihood and never fails to direct the right paths.”

My favourite BMS Faculty and inspiration is Prof. Vikram Trivedi, Full-time professor at St. Gonsalo Garcia College and visiting faculty of Annasaheb Vartak College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Vasai.

Before expressing my thoughts on Prof. Vikram Trivedi, I will mention how William Arthur Ward categorizes different teachers. A Mediocre teacher ‘Tells’, A Good teacher ‘Explains’, A Superior teacher ‘Demonstrates’ and a Great teacher ‘Inspires’. And I consider him a great teacher who is not only a teacher but a great source of inspiration and motivation.

A Master of Commerce and Bachelor of Finance, Accountancy, and Financial Management, he has been educating young minds since past seven years in the stream of management studies. He believes that a teacher is someone who becomes through many years of training and experiences in the field, and hence is pursuing the degree of PGDBM.

Prof. Vikram Trivedi has been teaching subjects like Financial and Management Accounting, Marketing Management, Rural Marketing, Special Study in Marketing, Indian Management Thoughts and Practices, Cost Accounting and Auditing, Entrepreneurship and so on.

He strongly believes in breaking a traditional barrier of mechanical learning which makes machine to work like man, and man to work like machine and to give the learner a choice of alternative approach of learning which he is seeking. According to him, learning is a pleasure and it shouldn’t be imposed or enforced on students as we strongly believe happiness is an important part of learning and students cannot learn in pressurized atmosphere. He believes in offering an approach which believes that every student wants to excel and prove their excellence in an area of their choice, an approach which believes that students want to succeed and most important each and every student has the potential to do so.

Apart from teaching, he is a Coordinator of Foundation for Integrated Development Alternatives, an NGO working towards Youth Development and Conservation. He has coordinated and conducted various camps with support of NGO and NSS unit of St. Gonsalo Garcia College and other institutes, also involved in Personality Development Camp in capacity of In-charge and Resource person since 2001. He is a moderator and examiner for Elements of Logistics and Supply Chain Management of T.Y.BMS, Mumbai University.

I still remember his first lecture, when he walked into the class; his outgoing personality and the voice quality; he has instantly made all of us love him. He became a favourite of not only mine but other students in his first lecture itself. He is a scholar, humble, knowledge bank and a great motivator who is able to create an interest, curiosity to learn, bond of understanding, friendliness and trust. He has a good sense of humour and is the most popular faculty in BMS. All these qualities make him a best teacher.

He gives more preference to fundamentals and concepts of subjects which results in higher understanding and better score rather than a higher score which comes at the cost of students willingness to learn. Apart from teaching us text-book based theoretical chapters, he also takes help of innovative and creative presentations providing us with the opportunity and motivating us to visit well-known and well-established companies consisting of TATA Steel Ltd., JSW Ltd., Onida, Coca-cola and many others.

He helps all his students both personally and academically. He is always ready with solutions and guidance for any type of problem. Even an unknown person can approach him for any advice and he will be there for him. He enjoys working with student’s likes and dislikes and in return students love and respect him.

This teacher could make my day just with the thought that I am having his class. I am always so excited for the days when I have his class but hated that it was only for fourty-five minutes, because it went by way too fast for me. He is such an incredible teacher that I would continue to visit him throughout my life.

I am blessed to have him in my life, and proud to say he is my teacher, inspiration, support, and friend. For those that are blessed with an incredible teacher, such as I have, embrace it, and never let that go. I know this man will forever be a part of my life as a teacher as well as a friend.

I am proud of Prof. Vikram Trivedi as he is my guide and source of inspiration and motivation. Even if I write full book, I will not be able to tell what I feel about him. He is a true ‘GURU’. I wish my dearest teacher a long, healthy and most meaningful life ahead.

“You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”- Clay P. BedFord
