Prof. Saurabh Deshpande

0

Starting from the day when I entered for the first time in college I was really scared to walk in the college premises because I had a fear that whether the faculties will be kind enough to help me in choosing the right course for me after my H.S.C.  Then I entered into staffroom and there I saw Prof. Saurabh Deshpande. He was telling many students about the various courses the college offers and also their need and importance and scope. I was listening to him carefully and he was talking so politely and nicely to all the students gathered to know about what they can choose.

He was smiling and answering every question that the students were asking to him and he did not hesitate to answer all of them. He explained everything that helped us making the right decision to choose course we should be in. He was also explaining the things to us in Hindi language because some students were not able to understand English due to some reasons so he tried to make it simpler for them to understand.

He is a great man and also a great professor because he never ignored to anything. He used to always be ready for every set of questions given to him. He always helped many students to also get rid of stress and make them to understand the positive sides of the various things.

He has following educational qualifications:

  • Masters of Arts (M.A) in English language and Literature;
  • Post graduation of Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication.

He has experience of 12 years in the field of education. He teaches B.M.S students the subjects like:

  • Business Communication;
  • Public Relations Management(PRM);
  • Business Ethics And CSR;
  • Indian Management Thoughts and Practices.

He tries to solve the problems of students in very effective way and he helps students to clarify all their doubts and problems. He believes in giving more examples in the class so that every student is able to understand and explain the answers or points with examples. He always tries to make the points so easy by making them simpler in many languages. He explains the points in Marathi also for Marathi students and also the same for all students of different cultures and religion.

He has a good attitude towards his students as he always refers students by saying ‘friends’ and so this represent how friendly attitude he has towards his students. Even though he sees student for the first time he addresses him/her the same way he does for other students and then the student consulting him or meeting him for the first time has less fear to talk to him and the student doesn’t feel shy or nervous and then the smooth communication takes place. His teaching philosophy is that he never judges a student by his/her marks; he always judges them on how they answer to him and accordingly he finds out how the answer could be improvised more by the student in more technical language with proper use of grammar and also by using examples related to it. Hence, this helps a lot to the students to know about their silly mistakes and try to be more effective in answering again. He always tried to keep doubt solving session after every two or three lectures so that the revision of the past lectures can be done and also the students are left with no doubts they had in the subject.

“A teacher who loves learning earns the right and the ability to help others learn.”

Here I would also tell something very unique about Prof. Saurabh Deshpande is that he just does not help students but he also helps the poor and needy people on the streets. Just before 15 days, he met an old man nearly at age of 70-80 and he talked with him to know that what problem the old man is suffering from? The old man told that he has big family and he has retired from the job and he was the only person to earn in the family. He had a wife and his grandchildren and he used to beg on station to continue their livelihood. Saurabh Sir was overwhelmed by hearing this story from that old man and he tried to help the old man by contacting many NGOs and old age homes for the old man. He is not the person who only believes in just teaching but also believes in social welfare and helps many poor, needy and helpless people. This makes him different from all other professors. He has good command over languages and a great self-confidence in himself. Generally the professors are not sure about some small things existing in the current market or world but he is always confident of what he speaks and teaches to students because before teaching he collects the data relevant to the topics and with so much information about it that a professor can’t do all the time because of shortage of time limit they have. But Saurabh Sir manages his time so that he covers the syllabus on time also provided that he gives the new and current examples to the students and this helps every student to give new examples and make the answers look good with supportive examples and score well. This is his agenda that he followed in his 12 years of teaching and will continue to follow till he’s teaching and will try to improve more things that will help him and students in the long run.

He is the professor who always tried his level best for the welfare of the students and society and so I can say that he is the best professor that I have ever met.

Here I would give one quote that “To become successful, you need to first trust your teacher or your Guru and then trust yourself”.

A professor would never teach you wrong; he’ll always teach you the things that you need to know the most and so you have to trust him at the first place and then you have to trust yourself that what you have learnt is helpful to you and needful to you and it is correctly placed where it should be. I would always trust all my Professors and try to get as much as knowledge I can get from them and will always be confident enough that whatever my Guru says is the last word for me. I will surely miss all the Professors after I complete my T.Y.BMS but will miss Prof. Saurabh Deshpande the most and will consult him whenever I face challenges or problems in my life and I am sure enough that he’ll always be there to guide me in the same manner he always did. I finally want to thank him to help me in making of this essay as without his help and support I would have never been able to write such essay.
