Guru Stotra
Guru Brahma Gurur Vishnu
Guru Devo Maheshwaraha
Guru Saakshat Para Brahma
Tasmai Sree Gurave Namaha”
This sholak in Sanskrit imparts the meaning that “Guru is verily the representative of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He creates, sustains knowledge and destroys the weeds of ignorance. I salute such a Guru.”

We all have ideals in our lives that inspire and motivate us. From closer home to when it is our own parents or elder brothers and sisters or distant relatives to when we move on  into the wider world we meet many more who inspire and motivate us in life. But perhaps none as much as a teacher can be a guiding factor. A teacher is one such ideal who not only imparts knowledge but also educates them and shares their expertise and wisdom but also acts as a spiritual guide for his/her students so that they can follow the path of truth, light, eternal wisdom and everlasting virtues.

Teachers train us mentally, physically and morally to become useful citizens of society.

A teacher at school is like a second parent extending her love, support and guidance besides laying the foundation of a strong education. But a professor at a university level acts as a mentor, friend, philosopher and guide who is supposed to show the true path to achieve the students aspirations, goals and dreams.

Professors work side by side with their students, inspiring them to achieve, and establish lifelong relationships between education and goals. Each professor teaches with his or her own style and strengths, and makes connections with students in unique ways.

There are many different teachers in college and high school that have aroused in me the most controversial emotions. Students have different criteria when choosing their favourites. I too have over my elementary, high school and college level been influenced and guided by many excellent teachers.

One such professor, who has been a mentor, and guide during my college years is Dr. Richa Jain. She has an MBA, NET and Ph.D qualification with an experience of 5 years. Along with this she is the Head of the BMS Department of Thakur College of Science and Commerce.

She mainly deals with financial subjects like Economics, Financial Management, International Finance, and Financial Markets and also acquires knowledge on the various Business Research techniques and practices.

The teacher should teach in such a way as to hold the attention of the students as it is very common these days to see students skipping lectures when they lose interest. I found that this was a rare case in her lectures. Her commitment towards her teaching profession is well known among her students and faculty members. Her professional attitude has not escaped the higher authorities because of which she has been given additional responsibilities of being the Head of the BMS Department. She knows the subject thoroughly and enjoys teaching and is able to communicate this enthusiasm to all her students. She is concise, clear and precise in the concepts she teaches which makes the subject interesting.
Her constant emphasis on Parent Teacher meetings enforces a strict code of discipline and to involve parents at every stage of their child’s academic and career life.

Her simple examples of daily situations of life give an interesting perspective to the sometimes monotonous concepts, thereby giving a better understanding to us of the subject.  To give a little respite from the monotony of the lecture she sometimes lightens the atmosphere with jokes and smart repartees. She is ever ready to help students for other curricular activities besides her subject related queries.

It is imperative that educators should have an impartial and fair attitude towards their student to enjoy their trust and loyalty. This I found in Ma’am as she gives us a fair chance to present our ideas during presentations. Every student stands a fair chance based on their performance in her class. Moreover her helping nature makes her an approachable person during personal or academic related situation.  Apart from the academic subjects she has also taken an active part in making the college years a memorable experience for us students. She has played a major role in many intra-college festivals and has motivated us to participate and enjoy the experience of it. She has always encouraged students to participate in many extracurricular activities and represent the college at inter-collegiate/university levels

Her presentation is full of examples and real life situations to make the concepts more challenging. She is always prepared with the topic to teach very well. Unlike some professors who prefer to jus read out the lecture notes or give assignments, Richa Ma’am on the contrary explains the entire concept with a practical approach.  Her simple notes and diagrams make the theoretical concept very simple to learn for exams. She gives a fair chance at the periodic tests to grasp our understanding of the subject. Other than being involved completely with the subject she also updates us on the current affairs and situations around the world and motivates us to widen our span of knowledge.

Teachers usually leave a memorable impression during a student’s personal life. Many fun and motivating experiences with Prof. Richa Ma’am make my college days memorable.
She constantly motivated and guided me to    participate with full commitment in a research competition thereby helping to achieve the 1st place!
During a past industrial trip, her friendly and fun loving nature made it a very learning and memorable visit.

Richa Ma’am has been a true mentor, philosopher and guide in all perspectives. She has constantly motivated and guided me through my academic career and I can fully count on her to give me guidance in my future career perspectives. Her friendly and caring nature makes her an approachable person under any situations.

Great teachers are not born in the minds of the students but they are born in the hearts of the

Students.  Like me I know she will continue to motivate and guide students throughout her teaching life
