Any guesses for the all time favorite sport of our country?
Oh come-on! You won’t get any 5 crore for this answer. And if you guess it wrong, it means you don’t belong to India! 😉
Well it’s OBVIOUSLY “CRICKET”!!!!
At Chetana College, there was a whole day cricket tournament on the very 1st day of Shikhar 2013 at Ovals Ground in Churchgate. The response from the city colleges was overwhelming. Total number of teams that turned up was 24. The college had arranged for 2 pitches at OVALS but due to such a huge response, even 2 pitches were less for the players.
First day ended with a great enthusiasm. This made the college authorities to arranged for Box Cricket on the 2nd day of Shikhar 2013 as well.
What is Box Cricket?
Well it is a mini-version of Cricket only. Just few changes in the rules.
- Only 4+2 members were allowed to participate in the game.
- 5 balls per over.
- Free hand was allowed but not cross arm and so on.
Coolest part of this event was On-the-spot registrations were allowed.
All the players showed their Sachin’s and Dhoni’s in them. Cricket is always interesting in India as compared to all other sports. We have grown up watching and playing cricket on regular basis. In the event also, the phenomenon was same.
The spectators covered both the pitches and there was hardly any space left for me to go in and have a glimpse of it. But thanks to the college students they gave me a bit space and I was witnessing the finals – Dahanukar vs D.Y Patil. It was going to be a great match and I was just too lucky to witness it. The Dahanukar’s had lost in their previous match but thanks to the re-try entries they came back and made it to the finals and finally towards the elegant trophy.
Winners had the basic strategy – Think you will win!
Losers were very optimistic and willing to participate next year.
