An Interview with Garima Singh, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013, Thakur College of Science and Commerce (78.33%)
Â
- Tell us more about yourself.
Hey friends I believe that I am a fun loving person & happy go lucky kind of a person, enjoying my college life to the fullest. I love hanging out with my friends. I don’t believe that one should be a bookworm to be a topper. It’s the quality that you study matters not the quantity and time.
- Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?
As said expectations leads to disappointment, it is only your hard work that counts.
The credit for my success goes to my parents who always appreciated my potential and my friends who always showed me that the top position is mine.
And of course my teachers without whose support the lessons would never be so easy.
- Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?
Unless you don’t have pressure on you we don’t tend to study, same was with me when I realized that only a month I actually left for EXAMZ I rushed.
- How did you allot time to different subjects?
I never followed my own timetable. I hardly used to study for max 3 hrs a day and not even more than that.
Â
- Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?
The best way to crack your exams is be different from others. Your paper presentation should be so good that the examiner is forced to give you maximum marks he could.
Give examples wherever possible.
Make diagrams in every answer
Most importantly UNDERLINE the key points.
Â
- Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?
Yes I had participated in various seminars and events. Our college organizes various events and this gave the opportunity to explore a lot.
Yes we can manage both studies and extra activities easily if we know how much time is to be allotted for what activity.
- Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
Stress is more among students and we have huge competition which sometimes demoralizes one. This leads one to depression.
But I personally feel that behind every successful person there are lot unsuccessful years. So we should always stand up and fight back failure.
Â
- Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?
Industrial visits are fun loving and educational tours where we develop mutual bonds and trust among each other.
I had visited Coke and Milk industry during my FY and handmade papers and tea industry in TY.
- Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?
Yes a lot we are always surrounded with some or the other projects or assignments or presentations.
Instead we should have more practical activities like game sessions, quizzes, plays, etc . where we can show our potential. Â Â
- What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?
I just have one message that hardwork and being passionate is the only mantra for success.
Â
- Â What are the future plans post BMS?
After TYBMS I will be pursuing for my MBA.
