An Interview with Neha Ahuja, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper, Gurunanak College of Arts, Science and Commerce (71.6%)
 
- Tell us about yourself
I like to learn more, I am interested in gaining knowledge and sharing with others too, and I think everyone should do this in his or her life. In the remaining time, I am interested in dancing, I love to do it, with this I  think I am a hard worker, I like to handle the events more.
- Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?
I was expecting it, because in 2nd year I got 79% so my expectation this time was also in 75 line but, I m so happy, because as much we do the hard work, we get that much result which I think I got and for this I would like to say that, my parents have supported me a lot as they do it always and all my professors who guided me so well I really would thank them.
- Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?
Honestly, I haven’t started it on very 1st day, but I started preparing from the end of August and few weeks before I started revising it. But according to me this is not the right format. I think if I would have started late then it would had helped me more to remember as we all know that in BMS we have a lot of work(assignment, ppt) to do. So studying before 2 months regularly and without break daily 3-4 hours would be good.
- How did you allot time to different subjects?
I divided 10-10 days in the starting of the month of August to every subject. Each day I studied 3 to 4 hours, not more than that. And then in October, I started doing my revision work.
- Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?
I just started studying, and thought just let it go. And in the back of my mind was like: let’s see what the result is. According to me the handwriting works a lot. Because as the examiner checks our answer sheet, the 1st impression is the hand writing and with that the presentation of the answer sheet.
- Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
For TYBMS, if someone is weak in finance or maths, then they need to join the classes to polish themselves, otherwise they don’t need it. Yes, I had joined the classes for financial management. The practice is more important in financial management, and if someone is not having a habit of practicing it, then they need to join it.
- Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?
I had participated in fybms and sybms, but I didn’t participate in tybms, though I was busy in doing events on the free days of this semester.
For bms student, he/she can manage the study and extra activities and fest to some extent. Whenever one is free he or she can go for all this activities, but prior to this, the importance should be given to the lectures and classes both.
- Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS?
Yes, I am doing an Entrepreneurship Management certificate course. Along with I also conduct corporate events.
- Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
I don’t have anything to say about, I just want to say that they should not go for this option at all, as our life doesn’t end there itself. Whenever I feel like stressed I always listen music. I think it’s the best thing to do at that time. Or-else one can share their stress with their friends or parents too.
- Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?
I don’t think so, that there is the need of increasing the IVs because, as it is only 1 day is a visit and rest of the days go in travelling and visiting other places. I have visited the milk industry.
- Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?
It is not like that, and I don’t think so, that there should be any changes in the curriculum of bms. I just think that the lecture timing should be fixed. Like for example: from 8 to 12 or something like that. As our college doesn’t have any fixed timings, we are unable do any part time jobs. That’s why I do the events whenever I get the time.
- What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?
Just be knowledgeable, share your knowledge, because if one does that, their knowledge gets enhanced more and hence he becomes more knowledgeable.
- What are the future plans post BMS?
Planning to do the job
