  • Tell us about yourself.

My name is Pratik Shetty, the topper of Tilak College, Vashi. I am also the General Secretary of the college and Class Representative. This is only because things have changed when I took BMS. Before I was just like a machine, living a mechanic life. But now I embrace them all. My passion is to go on pro-biking, playing football and meditating in an open nature.

  • Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?

Yes, I was expecting to be first in first class in my college and it all goes to my parents and teachers.

  • Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?

I just prepared studying from the last month but yeah I still remember the things that I studied only because I study less time but study hard.

  • How did you allot time to different subjects?

I used to study 3 hours with one hour gap and after that I used do mediation and play games a bit then back to studies .took one subject at one time ..Studied hard then relaxed then back to studies … it was like a workout session after one hard set then a small break then again study.. Time table was one subject for one week

  • Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?

For case study I read it and then I imagined myself in that place then started to wonder what to do ….then according to me I solved my questions. Easy subject were Marketing, HRM and ethics. The ways to crack exams is to refer the latest in the subjects for that the best way is 21 sets then to study hard all the questions again and again making it all easy to remember .a very special way to answer the questions is to write it down in the points which makes things more easier for the moderator to correct the answers and write in a very simple English with no complex words or complex grammars just keep it simple silly

  • Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

I am weak with numbers so I required special coaching for accounts but as off you can even do it alone if you pay attention in the college classes watch and learn is the best technique to learn hence may that be any class.  Personal attention and interest is required. First thing is that the student should be interested in scoring rather than passing he should study in classes or alone but the self interest is required because the teacher wont write the paper hence it is not actually necessary but if needed then he should go to class but for both personal interest and hard work is necessary like doing homework then the actual fruit will reap and later would be sweet.

  • Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?

Yes it was my personal responsibility to participate in the college fest ANUBHAV and make it a grand success making it for 5 days and setting a record which is first ever time happened in Navi Mumbai. It was only because of my studies that we chalked our plans and various ideas into the fest making it a grand success. It is very necessary for every student to study and take part in these activities as studies can only give them a certificate at the end but extracurricular can make them experienced if all the students say “I made the fest the best” then ultimately it would be “we made the fest the best”

  • Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS?

Yes recently I launched a website similar to ecommerce sites with a friend known as THE PARACHUTE selling old stuffs and antic stuffs like phones, bikes etc so I learned many things from it. So it’s better to create a job rather than to do a job. I think all of you should keep on trying new things it helps to learn a lot so doing an internship will trouble you now but benefit you later. You will learn new things make you more commanding and the actual skills of manager will expand within

  • Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

Stress are the part of life best way is doing mediation and just use a small word when stress comes to me that is RELAX that’s it coz life is life we all have things planned so why to worry ….things are under your hand work it your way and also never attempt a suicide a true manager will never give try hard till the hard. Never forget if not now then later but yes when it comes later then it would be a big way who know you failed now in 3 subjects later in 6 sem you can be the best in class by being topper, destiny my friend believe in it and motivate yourself because there is no restrictions on thinking. It’s you know yourself better then never give up try hard till the end it’s not about how hard you hit its about much hits you take and keep moving forward.

  • Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?

I think yes IV have more become like fun boozing and enjoyment rather the original learnings which have been lost  so industrial visits should have more learnings about how things are worked out for making a company  things like import export customs and the IVs should be increased to some extent Mumbai university officials should conduct seminars and workshops for all the students as it will allow all the Bms students to come under one shelter share ideas, discuss things and making the course more broader and brighter I believe in extracting the knowledge that others have so this is the best way in doing. I have visited Kohinoor Rice Company, Bharat Gears Private Limited.

  • Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?

Yes by the way they are occupied with assignments and various other projects and also presentations but I think there should be much of extra curriculum activities like entrepreneur contest, debate contest, brain storming contest at  Mumbai university level bms studies should also include many things like skill development activities. These programs can make things easier for all the students who will learn many new things and can also lead development of the knowledge, ideas and this will give the world fully trained managers.

  • What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?

To all my juniors one thing to share always “think different, study different, write different and live your life different” if you do this then you will definitely achieve your targets. Do not study for passing or scoring study it for making difference among you and others. Compete others but don’t follow the same things that others do. Follow your heart and mind because they somehow know what you truly want to become in life rest all is unnecessary.

  • What are the future plans post BMS?

After BMS I would probably start studying for CAT and try for IIM or Manipal for MBA or even try doing something different fingers crossed….

You guys are really working hard making it all happen so easy for all BMS students out there. But yes I would request you to launch a mobile app of the same version for everyone and upload in android, marketplace; app world so that all the BMS studies in the further world can be more connected and attached only through. Thank you for allowing me to blog in your site .
