  • Tell us about yourself

I am Nitesh R. Shahani – A BMS Graduate currently pursuing my MBA (i.e MMS) from Khalsa College i.e Guru Nanak Institute Of Management Studies, Matunga

I believe I am a creative and hardworking individual and forsee myself getting into social media as a marketing manager or into market research post my MBA. I have completed the first year of the Masters and have just finished my summer internship at a Social Media firm- Phonethics Mobile Media Pvt. Ltd in Andheri which handle big clients like Madhuri Dixit Nene, Nissan, Inorbit, GIA, etc on the social media.

I am a Bollywood movie buff and also a huge fan of Madhuri Dixit. It was indeed a moment of pride to assist and be a part of her online team at Phonethics during my internship :).

I love old hindi classics specially of the 90’s in music. Also love any feel good number that is hummable! 🙂

My ambition in life is to excel through whatever I do and make myself professionally and personally secured.

  • Describe your BMS College and what is the 1 thing you would like to change in your college?

I passed my graduation from Vivek College, Goregaon West.

In terms of infrastructure, the college is mediocre. Faculty was helping and friendly. The interactive teaching style adopted by the teachers proved to be of help to understand stuff. The college was strict with regards to attendance and stuff. The best part of the college was my classmates as I almost knew every single individual from the class personally! 🙂

One thing I would like changing about my college would be probably the infrastructure..would try modernising it with all the new technological inventions shaping up . However, they’d need to finance me for the same atleast for now since I haven’t begun earning as  I chose further studies post BMS 😀 🙂

  • Share your most memorable moments at BMS College

Every moment of those 3 years was very special. Those 3 BMS years were probably the best they could’ve been!

However some special indelible moments would include some International Finance lectures by Prof. Azgaonkar, who was a 80+ year old visiting faculty. We were all very motivated seeing his abilities and knowledge base.

I cannot forget a special farewell video I made for the class which we saw in the AV room with our Coordinator then- Mrs Savina Shenoy.  That was one of the special days for everyone. 🙂

I remember a project which required us to market an imaginary product. We took up ‘Chips’ as our product and created our own video to market it. It was an absolute fun experience doing that project.

Also, as a part of entrepreneurship subject, we were given a project to make a movie on a given entrepreneurial topic. We got ‘Vadapav stall’ as our topic. The project was an absolute privilege working on and every single member of the group had lots of fun doing the same.

I remember an Ice-cream parlour close to the college used to be the Adda for our friends group. Every day, post college hours, we would surely try and spend some time there. It was the most fun moments we cherished at that place! 🙂

Apart from all this, I remember once I won a contest on a Bollywood page on fb and took 5 friends group  to meet Vivek Oberoi. He was delighted to know that all of us belonged to a college named Vivek College 😀

  • Where have you worked in the past and what & where are you currently working or doing?

I have just finished my summer internship at a social media firm as I mentioned above. If you are creative, determined and well versed with the digital world, Social media is surely for you. Assisting in making posts for  FB, Twitter and researching for pitch presentations for new clients was a major part of my daily routine work there.

  • What advice/tips do you have for BMS undergraduates and graduates?

I believe BMS can be easily dealt with if you are a.) good at multitasking or b.)  know the tact to get things done from group members. This is the only mantra I followed during those days!

MBA has been more in practical terms as compared to BMS. BMS was fun while MBA is sheer hardwork. Decide on what you wish- If you are hardworking and have a flair for further studies post BMS, MBA is surely for you..!Dunn give it a second thought! 🙂
