- Tell us more about yourself. Â Â
I am Juili Ballal. My hobbies include playing cricket, musical instruments like guitar and synthesizer and reading books especially self – help books. I have played cricket at All-India university level for 2 years. I love playing different sports and feel that sports is rejuvenating and helps you to concentrate in your studies as well.
- Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?
Frankly speaking, I was not expecting to top in the exams. But, somewhere deep down in my heart I wanted to top in the final exam of my graduation. The credit for my success goes to my parents who always stood by me, my teachers who were excellent in imparting knowledge and of course my friends and peers.
- Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?
I started preparing myself for the exam a good one and a half month before the exam. BMS curriculum is such that you end up studying for sometime everyday. So you don’t need to panic at the eleventh hour.
- How did you allot time to different subjects?Â
Yes. I followed a self-made timetable. I practiced ‘Operations Research’, ‘International Finance’ and ‘Econometrics’ sums everyday. Theory subjects are not that big worries. You can easily finish studying 1 theory subject in 1 week. On an average I studied for 3 hours in a day.
- Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?
Perfect practice makes a man perfect. Therefore, it is pivotal for you to practice the practical subjects everyday. This will give you a lot of confidence.
- Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
I think self-study is enough for BMS students. Though, they can think of joining coaching classes for practical subjects like Operations Research.
- Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?
Yes. I was actively involved in extra-curricular activities of college. I represented my college in inter-collegiate cricket, softball and baseball tournaments.
- Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS?
No, I did not pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS.
- Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management? Â
It is very disappointing to know about the suicides committed by today’s youth because of stress and depression.
- Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?
No. I think 1 industrial visit per year is sufficient for BMS students. Industrial visits give you a abundant practical knowledge which is not possible to acquire in the four walls of the classroom.
- Â Â Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?
I don’t think that the BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock. By having projects, assignments etc. the college is actually preparing its students for their future. This is just a grand rehearsal of the actual show.
- What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?
I would like to tell the next batch of BMS students that take interest in the extra-curricular activities happening in your college, because this is the last chance when you will actually get time to actively participate in the activities. You need to be JACK OF ALL TRADES. That is the need of the hour. Be relaxed while studying and when you are studying make sure you are not distracted by anything. Take help of your teachers in anything and everything that you want to know. Give your presentations sincerely, write your tests well, study hard and leave the rest to the God.
- What are the future plans post BMS?
I will be pursuing PGDBM(Post graduate diploma in business management) from N.L.Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research, Mumbai. After the completion of my post graduation I will be working in corporate sector and at the same time will prepare for NET/SET. Passing the NET/SET will make me eligible to teach the students of degree colleges. I would like to be a teacher in the near future.
