Fondly known as : My Friends tend to take me a little too seriously, so they seldom came up with a nickname,
But a few of my friends had gotten creative and proclaimed me to be ‘Benwa’ for quite a while.
Â
Ambition In Life : My First Ambition In life? To Never stop being Ambitious In life.
I believe In dreaming big, Success isn’t the destination its a journey, ambitions are but milestones throughout that journey. I hope to look back upon this email In 5 years time, sipping on a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day, nestled comfortably in my cabin staring at the plaque at my door which reads ‘Ben S. Mukherji – Senior Human Resource executive’ at The Grand Hyatt, Mumbai and asking myself, ‘What’s next?’
Â
Most Memorable & Funny  Memory – During our second year, Me and 3 of my friends had enrolled for an inter-college competition on Gandhiji’s life and present applications of his teachings, The news that we were shortlisted didn’t reach us until much later than the other participants, I received a call from college at about 9 P.M informing me we’ve been selected and have to present our topic at 9 A.M at the church gate hall, there was only one problem…We didn’t have the topic ready at all! With only a few hours to go, I made the calls to my 3 friends who were fast asleep and we managed to finish it by 7.am, tired and nervous we all met up at the santacruz station and boarded the train. When we finally arrived, we saw innumerable other students who looked well prepared and ready, we marched in there like Kings although we were trembling in anticipation, we presented our part and unfortunately didn’t win. We laughed off our loss and decided to spend the rest of the afternoon hogging down on food and enjoying movies at the nearest theater hall. However, working side-by-side with my friends, sharing laughter and nervousness through the entire train journey, indulging in each others ideas and backing one another, not only did we sow the seeds of a life-long friendship that day, but I believe we upheld Gandhiji’s principles of love and brotherhood more than any other soul in the hall that day.

Define BMS in 1 line- Join if you can’t be an engineer, Graduate and be the engineer’s boss.
Â
Factors Considered while selecting Electives:
I decided to play it safe while choosing my elective of Retail Marketing,
The other two i.e Econometrics and Investment Portfolio seemed a little tedious for someone whose allergic to  finance like I.  It’s a great option for people who love number crunching, but the 6th semester is the time to play to your strengths and core competencies, you can always pursue another stream once you graduate. Since my strength lied In the theories of Retail Marketing, It’s what I chose and as you can see it worked out quite well for me.
Â
Did you use BMS.co.in for your exam preparation? Which sections of BMS.co.in helped you?
Yes, I downloaded quite a few sample and mock question papers that were uploaded on BMS.co.in, I found them most useful in circling down upon the most likeliest questions I could expect in the paper.Â
Â
How do you feel to be a consistent topper in both Sem 5 and Sem 6 exams?Â
Being Consistent – It’s quite easy to fall into a lax phase and give in to boredom, however being the topper in the 5th semester had some psychological boosters, not to mention the constant requests by parents to try and repeat my success once again haha. I bought all of the textbooks 1 day before 6th semester began, one must never follow the pace set by the college or classes, one must strive to be ahead of it. One can feel the difference themselves when they’re ahead of the class in certain topics, you learn to enjoy the taste of being creme de la creme amongst the rest. When the day the hall-ticket arrives seems to be the ultimatum for most students, I’ve had friends call me up a day before the exam inquiring about the name of the textbook to buy. My advice would be to give your hardest subjects the most attention, read your books till the exuberant white pages turn brown and are covered with pencil markings and highlights, you’ll feel the difference only on the day you’re sitting in that exam hall and the bell rings and all that’s between you and success are those 2 hours of writing the paper. I have no magic mantra to offer, only this piece of advice, whatever you do in this last semester will define you for the rest of your life, every minute and every moment you invest in this semester will do wonders for your future prospects, After all, wouldn’t you like to see your name topping your college’s noticeboard for everyone to see and admire?
Â
Behind one topper are many people who stood by him/her during those uncertain times when he/she was merely an ‘aspirant’. Would you like to tell the world, who were those people in your case? Any specific incidence that you would like to share with the readers?
Ever since 6th Semester began in earnest, It’d have to be my parents, my father calling me up from work asking me to finish college with a bang and do my best, or my mother, bribing me with offers of delicious food if I promised to study a few hours more. My Best Friend, Balram Rai, a humble soul who made sure I was kept updated on every assignment and lectures I might have missed, Most of all though I’d thank my ever-competitive peers who made me want to strive harder to improve myself.
Â
Message to Aspirants-
If you’ve begin aspiring to be successful, you’re already halfway there so congratulations!Â
My message to you all would be, Study your heart out, but cherish these moments too, cherish your friends and your memories, because these are the people who will have defined what you become in your life. After my last paper was done, I remember talking to my friend who was assigned the same college, we were both overjoyed college was over for us, and yet we’d never felt more nostalgic. Someday, when some of you get the opportunity to write an interview yourself, you’ll come to realize it’s the people and the memories you have of them that embellish each word you have to say.
Â
What was your study plan?
It’s highly advisable to join a coaching class or private tuition, you’ll need all the help you can get.
I decided to tackle the only technical subjects, International Finance and Operations Research initially.
Once I felt myself getting comfortable, It was onto the elective ‘Retail Marketing’.Â
It’s very easy to under-estimate, hence people leave it for the very last day, I wanted to have a clear understanding of that subject before the others.Â
Complete at least 2 theory chapters per day, It’s not difficult at all, and the sooner you finish it the easier it’d be for revision.Â
Remember to pay careful attention to broad theory based subjects like International Marketing and Indian Management thoughts and Practices, It’s a very objective paper and the more technical you are, the more authors and references you can provide in your answers the better.Â
It’s also a good idea to practice skeletal/tree diagrams for every single theoretical answer, it helps exemplify to the examiner your confidence and knowledge of the subject
The class test’s and assignments will definitely keep you on your guard, however you won’t score good on them if you’re not sure of the subjects.
