Tell us about yourself
I always believe in following my passion and interests. Since my school days I have always been very curious to know about the integrities about business, how top businessmen and CEO’s handle various complicated problems and always dreamt about myself being in that position in future running a successful business venture. Thus I thought BMS was a stepping stone for me to get there. I am also a perfectionist in all respects be it extracurricular or academics, I believe in giving my 100% potential in whatever I do and leave the rest to God.
Tell us about your college
Jai Hind College is a college full of enthusiastic and fun students and a very motivating and inspiring faculty.
When did you join BMS? Which year you are in?
I joined BMS in July 2009. I’m currently in SYBMS.
According to you, what is BMS all about?
Apart from the normal lectures in college BMS is all about projects and presentations, giving you a more practical aspect about the corporate world before actually entering it…it also makes your college life more fun and memorable through the bms festivals organized by different colleges.
What’s special about your college? What do you love about it?
My college gives equal importance to academics and extracurricular activities and this has taught me how to create a balance between both and also how to manage my time efficiently.
Who is your favorite teacher/faculty? Why?
My favourite teachers are Prof Daswani and Prof. Aazmeen. Both of them used to teach me law in fybms. Prof Aazmeen, being very soft spoken always knew how to motivate our class and gave us very interesting projects. She being a corporate lawyer not only has immense knowledge about her field but also all the other fields in law and beyond law. Prof. Daswani always made lectures fun even though law as a topic was very dry. He had a very pleasing personality and used to give us extra gyaan about how in real life people find loop holes in the laws. He has really changed my perspective about life.
What has BMS life taught you?
I think BMS is more of a personality building course. It has taught me how to work in a team of known and unknown people, it has made me more confident and helped me to conquer my fear of stage fright.
Who in your life has influenced you the most?
As students we always think that the toppers of our class are the smartest and will bag all the placements. At present Prof. Daswani has really changed my perspective about life. His words keep ringing in my head “don’t run behind marks they won’t get you anywhere, learn with the perspective of gaining knowledge and the rest will follow.”
As a BMS student, what changes would you like to bring in management education?
More than in a classroom I think management is better learnt in a practical atmosphere like in an office or business organization or even an NGO. I think we should have lectures on certain days and on the rest of the days we should work in such organizations so that we can relate the theory into reality.
What would you advice someone planning to do BMS?
Take up BMS only if you have a passion or liking to know about business and its working don’t take it up on parents pressure, peer pressure or thinking you will get great placements through it. Do your research about the subjects offered and read articles about business and only then take the decision cause only your passion and liking can motivate you from within and drive you towards a successful future.
What are your future plans?
I plan to work for a year after my BMS and then go on to doing an MBA.
What are you expecting out of BMS?
I expect nothing more out of BMS.
In one and a half year I already feel like a changed person.
How is BMS.co.in? What help should it provide in future?
BMS.co.in is a good platform to connect BMS students together. It’s very informative and also gives you an exposure about how different BMS students think or their various opinions on a common case study or topic.
