How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?

It’s an ecstatic blissful feeling. It’s like you are the center of the world. Friends keep teasing you and relatives praise you. You aspire and strive harder to pursue your dreams and ambition. I would credit my success to my family because of their unconditional love and support and all my professors who gave in their best to make us where we stand today and what we are. They also helped me in going beyond boundaries. It is because of their hard work and dedication in imparting knowledge which made me what I am today.

My success mantra is simple. Give in your best and have trust and confidence in what you do and most important believe in yourself and success will follow.

Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?

No timetable as such. We used to get a lot of assignments in all subjects which made us study at least something a day. I used to practice sums of FM or SSF each day. Practicing sums gives you speed which is required in practical subjects for completing the paper. We had tests after every unit so preparation for exams was done along and not at the last moment. I would suggest students to understand and study instead of learning answers and also solve past question papers. Smart work does the work.

Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

Coaching classes might be required only for students who require more practice in practical subjects like FM/SSF. In rest of the subjects self-study is enough. I had joined R.B Tutorials (Naveen Rohatgi Sir) – Santa Cruz (E) for FM and SSF.

What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?

I opted for Special Studies in Finance as it’s a scoring subject. Students who are well with numbers and want to pursue further studies in the field of finance can opt for this. I like practical subjects more than theory so I selected this.

Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?

At Mithibai we are taught to use more of reference books because it has many case examples which we can use it in our answers. We are not hesitant to learn and understand from those fat books.

HRM – K. Ashwathappa – Tata Mcgrawhill Publication

Service marketing – notes from professor from reference book

Logistics – V.V Sople

FM, SSF – Khan and Jain and notes of college and classes

Business ethics – college notes and rishabh publication

Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?

Worst was FM because I had worked very hard and had practiced a lot but the paper was too lengthy and in haste I missed a line in the question due to which I might have almost lost 10 marks. Best paper was Service marketing and SSF both.

Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

It’s quite disheartening to hear such news. Failures are not an end to life. As said, FAILURE IS A STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS. We should move forward in life as destiny has a lot more to give. Intimidation, tension or anxiety will lead us to nowhere. Its only you who is competing with yourself and comparisons should not come along the way. Criticisms come along. It’s not just you living, there are your loved ones attached to you for whom you are everything. When I feel low, I just hug my mom or my beloved and everything diminishes. You can do the same.

The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.

My topic was “Social Media Marketing”, which I selected because of the Media Workshop I had attended in Harkisan Mehta Foundation which was quite interesting. This topic gives you examples and strategies of many companies who have effectively been using social media for marketing of their products/services. I enjoyed a lot while making the project and I loved what I was doing which gave me great result and I can use it in my resume. Also it fetches you great marks and boosts your percentage.

Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS? What are your future plans?

No I did not pursue any additional courses alongside as I believe in doing one thing at a time. Right now no plans of working because I want to study further. I am planning to join National Institute of Designing (NID) – Ahmedabad or MIT Institute of Design – Pune or JJ college of Fine arts – Mumbai.  I wish to pursue Commercial Arts or visual communication design. I am preparing for my Entrance exams.

Any tips and advises for your juniors?

We say,

“LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES, BUT I SAY LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO MAKE MISTAKES AND THEN LEARN FROM THEM.”

Believe in yourself and love what you do and always listen to your heart and do what it says. “PROVE IT BY DOING RATHER THAN SAYING”. And always LEAVE YOUR MARK wherever you go. If you can’t be the best just be different. All the best guys.
