Mumbai is a city which is an ocean full of people, an ocean which is so evident at railway stations! Well jokes apart. There are people of all age groups, of all sizes. But a growing concern today, is that of the senior citizens. While the safety of every person is always at stake, the senior citizens are not spared either.
A huge amount of senior citizens live in this city. Citizens who have spent their youth working and slogging in this city. Who have seen their succeeding generation grow up here. People who have seen the bad and the good of this city and still embraced it and considered it to be theirs.
But sadly, this city no longer belongs to be them. There is a growing menace of crimes against senior citizens. And the accused in these cases are the small-time robbers in search for money. In a bid to make easy money, they zero in upon these targets where they might not face any possible fight.
The reason being that many of the senior citizens reside alone in the comforts of the city. Either willingly or unwillingly. Many a times, these veterans have kids staying away in far away countries for education or jobs. Hence they become an easy target for the ruthless murderers.
Shockingly, at times the offender might be their own relative or a faithful servant whose worked for years for them. Is only the police force responsible? What will it take for us to be a little more vigilant?
A little love may save the world….
