“And that’s how the water cycle is formed to maintain balance in the atmosphere” How many times have we heard, read, studied, learnt, drew and written this process? It is said that things stay in mind when repeated. Then why has this technique failed to work here?
Well, it all zeroes down to the mindset of the people. When we ask today’s youth about the necessity to know about environment science, this is how they reply, “I don’t even know why we have that extra chapter for a few marks anyway…we have been learning about the water cycle since 1st standard and we know what it is. Why should we care about anything else?
Can’t Board just give us a break now?” Yes, there is a lot of study pressure on the students these days, but it still hurts to see how ignorant and self-centeredtoday’s generation has become.
These days, every street, every corner is littered with garbage. Biodegradable or non-biodegradable, no one cares. And people then say “this place stinks”. It is said that cleanliness begins at home but if we see the room of a normal teenager these days, it like a tornado, only, inside out.
With the increase in technology and social media, we see the Indian youth clicking away and posting pictures on the go. The irony is between the aristocrats they dress up like and the background where they pose. Beaches, Streets or localities, nothing is left untouched by litter.
And then we say that distinguishing a foreign street from an Indian street is a piece of cake because of the surroundings. We all long for the day when our hygiene situation improves too, but without contributing, we cannot expect any consequences. So let’s make it a point to not litter our surroundings and in turn, not litter our lives.
