Maruti Suzuki became the top selling car company in the country in April 2012. Most of its success can be dedicated to the success of its car models Maruti Alto and the Maruti Swift. Both these cars are hatchbacks, but the Swift is a higher end hatchback when compared to the Alto. The price of the Maruti Swift varies between Rs 4,66,000 and Rs 7,10,000.
Engine & Performance
The Maruti Swift comes in 6 variants- the Maruti Swift LXI, Maruti Swift VXI, Swift LDI, Swift ZXI, Swift VDI and Swift ZDI. The car comes in diesel and petrol variants. The petrol version comes with a K series engine with a displacement of 1198 cc. The engine comes with variable valve timing that would allow the car to breathe and also increase the performance of the car. The engine comes mated with a 5 speed manual transmission as well. The petrol variant of the car will provide one with 18.6 kmpl of mileage, on an average. The car can generate a power of 86 bhp at 6000 rpm and 114 Nm at 4000 rpm. The diesel variant of the car will provide one with a 1.3 liter DDiS engine that comes with a displacement of 1248cc. The DOHC ensures that the engine’s fuel efficiency is amazing. The diesel engine is equipped with a turbocharger and an intercooler, both of which make sure that the engine combustion is very efficient. The diesel engine is capable of delivering around 22.9 kmpl as mileage, on an average. The diesel variant of the car can produce a power of around 74 bhp at 4000 rpm and generate torque of around 190 Nm at 2000 rpm.
Exteriors
The car is quite a classy looking one. It revolutionized the Indian hatchback market because of its unique looks when it released. This car will certainly be recognized from far away. The car comes with special car graphics as well. The front grill of the car is very well defined and merges very well with the headlights as well. The car has body colored handles and ORVMs as well. The rear section of the car comes with LED tail lights that make it look very impressive. The wheel arches of the car are really prominent and the rear and the shoulder of the car are curvy- this is what gives the car its unique looks.
Interiors
The interior of the Maruti Suzuki is surprisingly good looking. The car’s interior merges luxury with comfort while keeping the price of the car down. The upholstery is quite stylish looking as well. The door lining is silver painted as well. There are silver accents on the trim of the car as well. The car comes with a practical and a large dashboard that is actually multilayered. The interiors also house the new 3 spoke steering wheel and the waterfall console.
Features & Specifications
The Maruti Swift, surprisingly, is jam packed with features. Some of the features include- body hugging front seats, multi information LCD display, retractable cup holder, anti glare rear view mirror, 3 cabin lamps, vanity mirror, digital trip display meter, etc. The car comes with ticket holders, console boxes, cigarette lighter, ashtray, etc. The car has a special feature- the ‘Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH)’ which makes sure that there is just 3db of noise within the cabin, which keeps the noise down in the cabin, even during high traffic or high speeds. The car also comes with seat belt reminder, key left indicators etc. There is a keyless entry option for the car as well.As for safety, the car comes with an ABS system, ventilated disc brakes, drum rear brakes, etc.
