There are a number of people in the world who get bored of doing the same job everyday and end up changing their jobs time and again. Sometimes, even following your passion is not enough to keep you in the same business. But what is it that keeps people enthusiastic about doing the same job for decades?
I’m sure there are people like this in all fields, but being a music lover, I’m going to talk about musicians. The person who inspired me to write this essay is Sir Paul McCartney. It was fifty years ago they played for the first time in America on the ‘Ed Sullivan Show’, and that memory still lives on with their fans. From ‘Yesterday’ to ‘Hey Jude’, people find an inspiration in all their songs in some way or the other. Their lyrics were simple and yet they were written with such depth. Each song had meaning and through their music, The Beatles spread peace. And yes, Sir Paul McCartney is still enthusiastic about his music and so is Ringo Starr. The fact that these musicians are still writing and playing is just so fascinating! The Beatles was, is and will always be an inspiration to the world.
Along with The Beatles, there are so many bands that have been playing for decades regardless of the number of members they had to replace or the growing competition in the music industry. These musicians have been an inspiration to the world, but what keeps them inspired? I think it’s a cycle, they inspire us and we in turn inspire them for more. I’d like to end my essay with a few quotes, “I think people who truly can live a life in music are telling the world, “You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don’t need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it’s the very best, and it’s the part I give most willingly.” – George Harrison. “As a rock star, I have two instincts, I want to have fun, and I want to change the world. I have a chance to do both.” – Bono (U2). “Writing songs and sharing them with people is a very rewarding experience…I can’t think of anything more gratifying as seeing people from different backgrounds come together to enjoy music. Thanks.” – Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park). “The Beatles saved the world from boredom.” – George Harrison.
