Thump.. Thump and you can’t miss the sound of an Enfield passing by! The mean machine popularly known as ‘Bullet’ is a huge favorite among all age-groups. Enfield bikes are like a legacy; the love for the bike is passes on from generation to generation, say riders.
If we look at the history of the company, the Enfield Cycle Company made motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines under the name Royal Enfield out of its works based at Redditch, Worcestershire. The legacy of weapons manufacture is reflected in the logo comprising the cannon, and the motto “Made like a gun”. Use of the brand name Royal Enfield was licensed by the Crown in 1890.
‘Truly made like a Gun’, is this cruiser bike which is not made up of fiber or plastic as the other ordinary ‘J-Plastics’. (Acronym for Japanese made bikes with plastic bodies.) For handling an Enfield you have to be a ‘Man’ after all, managing such heavy bikes is no child’s play!
Enfield owned by ‘Eicher Motors’ has over the years created an image of being a Community and has the exclusivity attached to it. Any Enfield rider is not a bike rider but a ‘Bullet Rider’ and the name make’s all the difference. ‘RE’ organized rides on Independence Day and Republic Day are extremely popular. Apart from this there are regular ‘Trips’ to various destinations across the country. It is these trips and rides that take the feeling of exclusivity to a higher degree among ‘Enfield’ owners.
There are various private Bullet owners’ clubs, where you can take membership. The community has so much going regularly, that being a Bullet Owner gets you a sense of pride.
