With the ‘BMS Memories’ section, we came across many BMS Alumni who spent their valuable time sharing with us their BMS stories and memories. While some spoke about the mass-bunked orientation programme, some spoke about the industrial visit and some told us how BMS had helped them enhance their personality.

They left us in a huge Dilemma, because we didn’t know out of all the amazing memories they shared which ones to post, at the same time this ‘BMS Memories’ series was so loved by all our readers that BMSites were hungry for more and we couldnt help but oblige!

Finding a solution to this problem here we have an UN-CUT version: ‘BMS memories 2.0.1’ where BMS Alumni ‘Parotosh Gajjar’ from ‘UPG College’ shared his story rather many of his stories and experiences with us:

“A college degree is not a sign that one is a finished product but an indication a person is prepared for life.”

There are certain phases in life that leave a lasting impression on your mind and college life is one such phase in my life that I can never forget. It consisted of memories, emotions, education (very less of it, I agree), lessons of life (plentiful, you got to agree!) and all the other little moments that instantly bring a smile on my face whenever I think of them.

I have always been a shy, but an evolving person, since my school days and my three years in UPG have played a great influence in making me the person I am today.

It would be a hard task to list down the innumerable memories that I had during my college life, but I would try to share a few of the good ones (I’ll leave the bad ones for some other time ;).

The very first memory that I recall would be obviously my first day in college and I, being a guy, it has to be related to girls :P. Well the first thing a guy does on his first day in college is scan his classroom for the new faces (read pretty faces). I was no different and did the same thing and I got to admit, my class had some of the most beautiful faces. The rest of the day too, passed in having to know a few people around and so formed my first memory of UPG.

Another memory is actually from a bad event but makes me laugh nonetheless. We had our first viva’s (don’t remember the subject) and I always had a very casual approach towards presentations, viva’s and exams (in short towards studies). So it was supposed to start at 11 am and my roll number was somewhere in the 30’s in a class of 60. I thought my chance would occur at around 12 pm and reached college around that time. To my surprise our professor revealed that everyone needed to be in college at 11 am irrespective of their roll numbers and late comers would not get a chance to appear for their vivas! Then started a session of begging in front my professor to let me appear …and this went on for around half an hour in front of the whole class. That day, I was even ready to fall on his feet for those 10 marks and l learnt a very important skill called the art of convincing (read begging).

There are also good memories of finding some of the most wonderful people whom I call friends today. One guy who is a good friend now, actually belonged to my school and we never interacted during school times and it was in UPG that I got to know more about him, so UPG made me know a person more profoundly whom I already knew (or at least thought of knowing) and be less judgmental in life when it comes to people!

Another memory was that of a girl whom I liked and felt I should’ve approached during my three years in college but could not gather the courage to do so. One of the reasons for my attending the college was that girl itself and I regret not knowing more of her. It made me realize that it’s vital to convey your feelings and let it out rather than regret in life later. Have confidence and go for the kill!

So to conclude, my college life was not very adventurous so to say, but it was made up of small events which I now realize have definitely played a part in my shaping up as a person. Be it, the heated arguments with professors, interacting with new people, developing new skills which I thought I never had in me, that liking for a girl who could never be mine, making new friends whom I can call buddies for life and all the other things which I cannot recall now.

“Take a limitation and turn it into an opportunity. Take an opportunity and turn it into an adventure by dreaming BIG!”

Thankyou Paritosh for sharing with us your ‘so-special’ BMS Memories and contributing to another very amazing post in the BMS Memories series!
