One of the most respected actors of Brazilian telenovelas, Jose Wilker, had a natural death (sudden heart attack) at the age of 66 on 5th April 2014 i.e. Saturday at his home in Rio de Janeiro.
Jose Wilker began his artistic career as a member of the Popular Cultural Movement of the Recife Communist Party in the northeastern state of Nernambuco in which shows and documentaries on popular culture directed by him were filmed.
His most popular telenovela was “Roque Santeiro” (1985) and the movie “Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (1976) gave him international acknowledgement for his role as Vadinho, the husband who returns from the dead to torment Sonia Braga.
He acted in more than dozen of telenovelas and more than 40 movies and also worked as a director, announcer, host and movie critic.
