  • Tell us about yourself

TO begin with: I’m Sandeep Singh Sethi , a B.M.S graduate from R.A.Podar College. Currently I’m employed in Agrotech Foods Limited. Passionate about marketing! That excites me to the core. My ultimate aim in life is to do something that hasn’t been done before and to change everyone’s life in a positive way. I’m still not sure about what will be that one big thing but I’m searching. I’m still searching for my real goal in life and hopefully I’ll get it soon!
I am an occasional reader I haven’t read many books but still out of all the books I’ve read this one book has played an important role in building my personality “How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded a Million Dollar Company” by Varun Agarwal (A Young Entrepreneur ). Apart from this “The Secret” and “Power” by Rhonda Byrne have helped me a LOT in my life. These books have motivated and inspired me. I generally hear songs that makes me happy, whether it be trance music, country or any Bollywood movie song. Life’s too short to pay attention to things that make you sad, so just do the things that make you happy J

  • Describe your BMS College and what is the 1 thing you would like to change in your college?

I have been a lucky guy! I have been lucky enough to be part of two colleges during my graduation. I was in S.K.Somaiya in my first year, The vast campus is by far one of the biggest college campus I’ve seen in Mumbai. In Second year I Shifted to R.A. Podar College. Now Podar was altogether a different college from somaiya. It helped me a lot to discover myself and to focus on my co-curricular activities. Whether it be the crowd, the teachers , the katta, the canteen, festivals, events, assignments, ppt’s… I love everything about Podar. I’ve always been an average guy throughout my life, Podar helped me to interact with people having immense knowledge and potential. Podar was a total learning experience in every aspect. From politics to presentations, From canteen to katta with friends, From Festivals to internal exams.. Everything , every experience has taught me so much.
One thing I’d like to change in my college? That’d be nothing.! But if you ask one thing that I want to change about my college life.? Then I would say that I wasn’t fortunate enough like my other friends to get an opportunity to study in podar from first year. If given a chance to rewind, I’d like to go back to podar and study there from FYBMS.

  • Share your most memorable moments at BMS College.

Our 10 days Industrial visit to Rajasthan is the most memorable part of my college life. College  I.V’s help you to interact with your juniors and seniors. They help you to bond better with others and learn in the process while having fun J .Apart from I.V , participating and later organizing our college festivals RAPPORT was the best best best part of my college life! Wearing that special black T-Shirt meant for seniors and judging events, dancing, playing and having fun for a straight 6 days: That’s what RAPPORT is all about <3 . For all those who don’t know about it. RAPPORT stands for R.A.Podar’s presentation of rising talent. It’s out intra-collegiate level fest and you have to be a PODARITE to be a part of it 😉

  • Where have you worked in the past and what & where are you currently working or doing?

I did my internship at bms.co.in as a content writer and graphic designer during my summer vacations and that helped me a lot to realize my marketing and designing potential. I was lucky enough to get placed in Agrotech Foods during campus placements. I’m currently pursuing my job with Agrotech. It’s been a month since I’ve joined this company and it is turning out to be a great learning experience. I’m Thankful to Podar’s wonderful Placement committee for working so hard on the placements and to the Almighty for being too kind to me!

I’d suggest that everyone should do a job for a year or two as it helps to gain some experience and you can prepare side by side for CAT and other entrance tests. If you have only a few years at disposal after bms then you can think of directly doing MBA and then doing a job. This is my personal take and everyone should consider their options with an open mind and after introspecting as to what will be good for them after their graduation.

  • What advice/tips do you have for BMS undergraduates and graduates?

A student faces quite a lot of confusion as to what subjects to choose in their third year. At that time he shouldn’t look for an easy subject or for a subject in which he/she can score more. Instead students should choose those subjects that excites them, Choosing SSF just for the sake of scoring more marks will not turn fruitful similarly choosing SSM because you think that is easier than finance will land you up in quite a bad position. A guy/ girl should clearly understand that studies are meant for learning and not just for scoring, “marks are just a mere reflection of your memory and not your ability.” So choose wisely, take that subject which interests you and for which you feel passionate about.! Take marketing if you’re social and like to know what happens in the process of product development, product launching and after sales service process. Take finance if you want to learn about company accounts, stocks, international markets, and other accounts related stuff. I repeat “Choose that subject in TY that excites you! ”

Last few words: CHILL!!!! Chill, don’t pressurize yourself so much in your college days by thinking about heartbreaks, internal marks or punishments.
ENJOY!! Enjoy your college life with the lovely friends you have. Your time with them is short.
CREATE!! Create memories, memories that will last forever and
DISCOVER! : Discover your real self, your abilities, your likes, your future endeavors. J
DREAM!! : Dream the things you want to have, Dream the love of your life, dream about all the riches you want, dream about all the happiness you want in your life, Dream and you’re half way through to get those things. Believe in your dreams, they are all you have <3

Too much gyaan for the day.. eh .? just last few lines, written below is my favorite quote from Steve Jobs speech at Stanford. That’s it.! Have fun with your life J

My one of the most favorite quotes:
You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.
~Steve Jobs.
