“Management is all about getting work done effectively and efficiently.” I studied this principle in books. Finally I had got an opportunity to apply this principle practically and learn from it when I was asked to do an internship programme with Bms.co.in for three weeks. Bms.co.in is one of the leading site among the top Indian websites. This site conducted and online intra-college contest, “I AM AN AUTHOR” in which students had to write articles on any topic of their choice. And I being a Contest Head had to convince and motivate students of my college to write articles to get maximum numbers. I was given a target to collect 50 entries.
Initially, I thought it’s a tough task to motivate and convince the students to write as convincing human beings is something very challenging. I knew this was a golden opportunity for me which would boost my confidence and make me believe in myself. Then I started marketing about the contest. Telling the students about the benefits of participation, about the winner and all the details. I used different strategies to motivate them through verbal communication with students, notices, and through broadcast messages. I started getting responses and articles to publish. By the end of the time schedule there were 39 articles out of a target of 50 in 10 days. Maximum number of entries was from our college among the colleges who had participated in this contest which was unbeatable and remarkable!
This internship helped me gain confidence and made me believe in my capabilities. It was a good learning experience with undue support of my college authorities and guidance of Ms Parvathy, Manager of bms.co.in. This is not only an addition to my resume but has brought a change in my personality and given me broader prospect of how to deal with things in life. I hope and aspire that such internships would be held in future as well and having positive outlook towards it would bring success.
