These ideologies seem to have stark contrasts yet are interlinked on one aspect being ideologies to run the government . Let’s take a look on the basic meaning of the two:
Capitalism: an ideology in which investment and ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange of wealth is maintained chiefly by private individuals and corporation
Democracy: is a form of government in which supreme power is held by the people. Confers certain rights as per these rights individuals are free to start a business with minimum government interference.
Hence the prime difference among the two is that one focuses on economic freedom while the other focuses on political equality others are capitalism prevails with certain constraints whereas democracy is synonymous to freedom as long as it does not hinder others rights. Democracy prevents the benefit of unequal stacks narrowing the gap between the rich and the middle class. Also capitalist government has fewer threats in terms of business environment especially political.
“Capitalism is where you are your own property.
Democracy is where you are the majority’s property. “
“Capitalism is a situation where commerce is left to run itself whereas democracy lets commerce run itself “
And last but not the least despite the major differences neither of the ideology can do without each other if for an efficient yet effective government.
India a mixed economy does use a bit of capitalism despite prevailing democracy.
