Interview with Karishma Gandhi, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14, Prahladrai Dalmia Lions College of Commerce and Economics who scored 74%.
How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?
Honestly, it feels very good to be topper of my college. The most special moment is when my parents and teachers are proud of me. I would give credit to God, my parents, teachers and yes my hardwork and to everyone who are with me in this journey of BMS. “THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FAILURE”. IF YOU FALL 100 TIMES IN THE DAY, IT IS 100 LESSONS LEARNT.
Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?
I don’t prepare timetables instead, I study randomly any subject. For F.M, you need to keep on practicing and solve last 5 years paper given behind the textbook for all subjects.
Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
No, I have not joined any coaching classes because I personally feel self studying is much better than going for classes, but ensure that you attend each and every lecture.
What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?
My specialization subject was Marketing, I opted for it because I am good at theory and also want to further pursue MBA in marketing.
Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?
I referred Rishabh publications because it provides easy and simple language.
Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?
H.R.M. was ok… but not worst, and my all papers were good.
Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
Depression or tension of exam not good, it will harm you only. Just be prepared for your exams, stay calm. Committing suicide is not the solution to the problem. Talk with my parents and talk with positive people who encourage me in my life.
The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.
Project work also boosted my overall score. Doing the project on your own gives you a lot of experience which is reflected in your viva and fetch you good marks.
Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS? What are your future plans?
No, my future plan is to pursue mba in marketing.
