Dr. Maya Angelou passed quietly in her home in morning on 28th May 2014 at the age of 86, leaving behind a large and varied body of work that included autobiographies, essays, poems, screenplays, albums … and lots of choice quotes. She lived her life as a teacher as a activist as an artist and human being.

She was a poet and writer after becoming a fry cook, prostitute, nightclub dancer and performer, cast member of the opera Porgy and Bess, coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and journalist in Egypt and Ghana during the days of decolonization. She was an actor, writer, director, and producer of plays, movies, and public television programs.
