Arsenal will be playing Everton at Goodison Park on 23rd August Saturday in the second matchday of the English Premier League’s new season. Arsenal have done some transfer business this season and look to be a title challenger after a long long time this season. They defeated Crystal Palace by a mere 2-1 at home in the first EPL game but had a 0-0 draw in the midweek Champions’ League 1st leg qualifier match against Besiktas.
Arsenal looked confident and in action with desire and hunger in the community shield victory against Manchester City but they haven’t looked up to the mark in the Premier League and Champion’s League games against Crystal Palace and Besikatas respectively, which might concern Arsene Wenger a bit. Arsenal will have to win this game as they will be playing an important game midweek and can’t afford to low the confidence after a good start. Arsenal’s German stars will be back in action with Mesut Ozil, Per Mertasacker expected to be in action this weekend. Arsenal’s new boy Alexis Sanchez is getting a lot of love and he can be the guy who will make a difference in the scoreline in the gunner’s favour.
Everton are a tough cookie to crack, they finished in the Europa League spot last season and had a really good campaign. This season they have made a significant signing in Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea who was already at loan last season but now a permanent player for the Merseyside club. Roberto Martinez’s Everton started this season’s EPL campaign with a draw against newly promoted Leicester and now they are playing a top team in Arsenal this weekend. Everton have arguably the most difficult first 10 fixtures with Home game against Arsenal, Chelsea and away games at Liverpool and Manchester United. It would be important for Everton to do well in their home games atleast and try to get the maximum points if they want to literally challenge for the top 4 spot.
Arsenal do look a stronger side and they will have to make sure they win at any cost but there is no guarantee and Everton can pull up an upset at home, it will surely be an interesting game this weekend though all the attention will be at Manchester City vs Liverpool game, this game will surely be a joy to watch.
