Shah-en-Shah of Bollywood or we can say the angry young man of Bollywood all these accolades are given to only one person who is none other than Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He is an Indian Actor, Producer, singer, television presenter& has worked in more than 180 films in his career span of more than four decades. He is widely regarded as the greatest & influential actor of Indian cinema.
Bachchan was born on 11 October 1942 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. His father, Harivansh rai Bachchan was a Hindi poet & his mother Tej Bachchan was a Panjabi Sikh in a family where of two children & he has a younger brother Ajitabh. Amitabh attended Sherwood College, Nanital & later attended Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. His mother has a great influence in choosing Amitabh’s career as she had a keen interest in theatre & she always insisted Mr. Bachchan to take the center stage.
Bachchan made his film debut in 1969 as voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s National Award winning film Shome. Thereafter he got his first acting role as one of seven protagonists in Saat Hindustani where he was so convincing that he got first National Award for Best Debut. Anand where he starred alongside Rajesh Khanna. Bachchan’s role as a doctor helped him in winning the first Filmfare Award for best Supporting Actor& after that there was looking back to the great actor.
Zanjeer directed by Prakash Mehra helped Mr. Bachchan to get the tag of “Angry young man”. 1970s was the major turning point in the Bachchan’s career where he get married to Jaya Bachchan & was also part of the Bollywood’s most memorable movies of all time such as Deewar, Sholay which was Bollywood’s highest grosser at that time. He also featured in movies Kabhi kabhi, chalte chalte, Sharabbi, etc. That was these films & his hard work helped him to win many hearts & truly he’s the shahenshah of Bollywood.
