Ramzan is the ninth month according to Islamic Lunar calendar. Ramzan (written as Ramadan)
The month of Ramadan lasts for 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting of the moon. If the moon is sighted on the night of 29th fast then the month of Shawwal begins from tomorrow and Ramadan is over. The 1st of Shawwal is the Eid also know as Eid-ul-fitr to distinguish it from Eid-ul-azha (Bakri Eid).
In this whole month the Muslims keep fast (roza) and offer prayers for Allah. Fast (roza) is not only about not having food or water but avoiding bad habits and bad sins during fasting and do prayers while fasting. It is believed that during ramzan Allah (god)captures Satan and not let him to distract Muslims in their fast.
During ramzan the reward(sawab)of prayers and good deeds are increased to 70 times and also the punishment for bad deeds is also increased by 70 times. So it is advisable for a Muslim to avoid bad deeds and do prayers and good deeds during whole month and in this month one night is there called shab-e-kadr known as (badi raat). It comes between last three nights of ramzan beginning from 27th ramzan. The whole night is spent offering prayers and duas. This night in ramzan has great value as per Islam.
The word Eid means happiness or celebration. The Muslims had done a lot of hard work and prayers during ramzan and completed their ramzan with fasting and offering prayer I.e achieved the goal of ramzan. Therefore , they celebrate the happiness of completing their responsibility during the whole month and offer namaz of Eid early morning and start their day of Eid and enjoy. The children receives money as (eidi)and Muslims wish each other by hugging and wishing Eid mubarak.
