The final ballots have been casted in India’s record election and around 551 million people voted over a five-week period.

The final phase of voting in the last 41 constituencies ended at 6pm IST today  (12.30am GMT). The first exit polls were released very soon, pointing victory towards Modi’s Bharatiya Janata party (BJP).
But as the stock market hit a new record high in the hope that Modi can jumpstart the flagging economy, analysts said to be cautious because of notorious forecasting failures in 2004 as well as 2009.
