Classy and nestled in cool, picturesque surroundings is the Basilica, a food joint where I had dinner during my stay at Panchgani. As I entered the restaurant, the interior made me feel like I was in a sophisticated spot rather then a hill station. The Asian acessories, polished wood and the dramatic flowing drapes were the wow-inducing factor of the joint. The crystal color chandliers also added to the glow.
Before I could start contemplating what to order a waiter immediately came to assist me. Yeaaa, the waitstaff did seem to care about my dining experience which felt good! The aromatic Reshmi Tikka kebabs gave a mind-blowing start to the meal. The Chicken Soup was accented with plenty of lemongrass seasoning which made it perfect. For the main course, The Butter Chicken arrived sizzling on a bed of crisp onions which was lip-smacking. The Chicken Tikka Biryani tantalizingly teased my tasete buds! I contemplated ordering one more Biryani but like deja vu my dessert landed before I had the audacity to order anything else.I had ordered the kheer for the dessert, which was well-textured and a chery on the cake.
After I was done, the waiter told, ”Madam, you can go and sip on some cocktails in the lounge.” I, then decided to go and explore the lounge. The granduer was marked by elite class interiors and the music was peppy and perfect. I was delighted to find a Rasberry-Lemon Cocktail right on my alley. Fruity and decadent and I succumbed to its refreshing yet potent end.
After I left, I felt a rush of contentment which I get when my senses have been treated well! I was amazed by the powerful after-kick gusto! I give Basilica a complete ten on ten!
